Default Big ends & main dealer service safe?

Hi,

Ive got my 99 uk turbo in for a service at a subaru main dealer on friday but ive read a few stories of peoples big ends failing after a service?

Also im having to use the subaru for work at the mo and am finding an annoying grating, inconsistant rattling noise which i can only hear from inside the car which is very slight and can be heard at about 1200rpm then goes away but comes back at 2100rpm. The noise only comes when in gear and driving along and cannot be heard from under the bonnet revving the engine. Engine has done 121,000 miles but has had bottom end replaced at 60k, but i am over the 7500 mile service by 3000 miles.

Has anybody had a similar noises? and im praying that it isnt a tell tale noise of bigs ends failing!

Any input would be much appreciated, cheers matt

Yes. 2 points...

1. I would NEVER get a Scoob serviced by a main dealer unless warranty work or servicing on a brand new car... have you seen their prices
2. I would NEVER let a Scoob go 3,000 miles over the 6 month/7,500 miles service intervals. They are tuned and stressed engines which need servicing on time every time.

I'm only getting it done there for the stamp in the service book and I don't think £60 is bad for an oil service, and I've been driving the scoob like a grandad untill Friday when she goes in for some new lube. Also I think my rattle could be the infamous heatshield rattle, I hope!

Dont agree with you on this one, Prosport who I take my car(s) to, are 1. very reasonably priced, 2. Probably THE best place to take your subaru to
