Default Just a bit chuffed..

OK, I know it's not a Scooby, but please permit us to crow a bit about Mike Couch's fabulous 1932 Ford, which set a new European record at the weekend, pulling a 12.6 quarter from his Flathead V8. Bearing in mind this is an original 80 bhp engine block from 1932, the fact that it now makes 245 bhp is quite something! Martyn mapped the Holley injection system on our dyno, so we're quite pleased with ourselves and full of praise for Mike, whose attention to detail is just breathtaking.
A feast for the eyes!

Luv it! Absolutely beautiful, and good numbers too.
Any chance of a quick run down of the car's history?
I know it's not a scoob but it makes a change to have something different on here.

I only have a certain amount of it. The owner, Mike, built that car virtually from scratch, and there is so much stuff he's made himself it's untrue. Like the inlet manifold? machined from a block of alloy. Amazing workmanship and dedication, it's a real privilege to work on, and rare indeed to find a rod of this quality outside the USA.

We had this one in last week as well, for those with a guilty secret V8 fetish..

YouTube - Honky Tonkin Wheelstand

It doesn't have the big block in right now, but still draws attention!

I love these old hot rods!!!!

32 stud flatheads are just perfect looking engines! If I could i'd have one of these, but in a more rat look.

Close Alan but wrong stable.
It's a 400 Mopar block with a 440 crank giving 452ci.

Of course, I was thinking "Dodge" but mixed the numbers up!
this is a 440 R/T motor we built a couple of years ago for a customer.

I have a soft spot for Mopars.
Apart from the race car shown above I also owned a '71 Charger with a mildly tweaked 383ci motor that ran 1/4 miles in 12 something.
They are quite iconic cars to own, but dreadful in anything but a straight line.
Much as I love them, it would take an awful lot to persuade me to swap my scoob for one of those now

Incidentally Alan, the 05 STi I have now was first tweaked by you in 2006 to 340bhp, and when I bought the car in '08 you very kindly sent me the RR print outs, so thank you for that.

Great cars. I would love one but fear I would end up trying to jump over the main river in town with a muck ramp

Im a bit of a V8 convert.

Ran an old school 363 with mechanical fuel pump, carb etc in our Skyline last year. Won 3 out of 6 rounds with it and came third in another. Took it out to California last Movermber as part of the Red Bull world Drift Championships. The Yanks loved it

363 install

Picture from Poland:

Skyline at work - smoky

Youtube footage of the car out working, winning 2nd round last year at Knockhill

My daily driver is a Nissan S14 with a 6 litre Chevy LS2. Great engine but no character compared to the Skylines 363.
