Default Next step!!

If I were to go the next step power wise on my "99 Type R what would be the way forward?
Current engine spec is on standard turbo and standard intercooler -

Version 9 steel crossdrilled crank
ACL Race bearings
Eagle forged con-rods
Walbro fuel pump
Baffled sump
Competition oil pump
Scoobysport decat down pipe
Blitz Nur Spec full exhaust
Green panel filter
Forge dump valve
ngk pfr7b plugs
Ecutek remap by Andy Forest

325Bhp. Cant remember what the torque was now but I think it's roughly 300lbft

Is the next step a different turbo or what are the options?

I'd say ported headers, bigger injectors and then a bigger turbo.....

FMIC may help, but how close to killing your gearbox do you want to go ?

IMHO

P.S. Or a 2.1 conversion...

the gear box should hold up if you dont do launching off the mark, bigger injectors, headers, fuel pressure regulator, front mount intercooler etc 18g or 20g depends what power you want 18g should see you at about 360-370 bhp or so with equal torque or if you just want a simple straight bolt on turbo put a vf35 turbo on with your current mods and headers with front mount and make a good 350/350

2nd hand on here, in the Classifieds.

Or ebay - but few and far between on there...

Good 2nd hand one from a fellow member - £250-350 at a guess

they have quick spool up time as exhaust housing is smaller than the vf34 and hold there power to redline good turbo as used on the wr1s, tip if u are putting headers on with up pipe get a small up pipe you will get less lag quicker spool

Cheers folks good help to be gained here.
What turbo comes on the standard Type R? I take it these arent good enough for much more than 325bhp or so?

Caught straying again!! I'll keep an eye on the classifieds. Keep me in mind if you hear of any mate.

So it looks like either the vf34 or vf35 is the way forward and judging by looking at old posts theres not much difference in the two.

What would be the outcome if I stuck on the vf34/vf35 and got it mapped just the way the car sits at the moment?

Ryan 18G would be my choice, no point in a VF34/35 for a potential max gain of 15bhp! 18G should put the car to around 360 on our fuel.

Assuming Andy Forrest's printout is accurate...which I would take it to be.

as stated above i said go for an 18g or 20g, td05 18g will require a little more mods for the engine to handle that sort of power, for an 18g your talking double price for 2nd hand one than a 2nd hand vf34/35

with your current set-up it should handle an 18g ok, with ur current mods and a remap with a vf35 you'll see 340bhp/340 ft/lb torque, you want to be making alot more torque than bhp

That would be quite a jump in torque!
