If the CEL is illuminated with the Subaru ECU, connect the black plugs and tell us what the fault codes are.

It sounds a bit like a sensor has failed, and without its input, the PFC can't run the engine. The error code on the Subaru ECU should clue you in to what's going on.

Hi there,
This happened to me with a PFC, it is the MAF sensor that is at fault apparently the std ecu is less sensitive that is why it will run. This happened to me quite a few time so in the end kept a spare MAF in the car.Have now gone MAFless with a Simtec.

Good to hear you got it running Ryan, but, before you celebrate too much, need to check that the replacement sensor you put in is reading accurately. If it's brand new then no need to worry, but if it's a "used" MAF, it'd be worth getting hold of a new one and doing some comparison runs under boost to check the sensor voltages and AFRs are equivalent.

If they are you can put the new sensor back on your shelf for the next time something like this happens. If not, you leave the new one in place in the knowledge that your engine is running safely.

Don't think they'll be to bothered eleven years later
Take the lid of your MAF sensor and check for dry joints
Forget that I see yours is MY99 get a new one and try it.
