My speedo says 5omph and iam going 30mph??

Default My speedo says 5omph and iam going 30mph??

I've just had a clutch fitted from mr clutch Chelmsford which are highly recommended on this site but after about an hour of driving my speedo has some how added 20mph which is really wired.
does any one know wheather its cable or electronic , my brother seems to fink its magenets on the fly wheel has any one had the same issue??

Seems it back reading in KMs. On the earlier cars there is a mechanical convertor for the speedo cable leaving the gearbox, later cars its electronic. Which MY is your car?

Cable then. Did it have a mechanical convertor beforehand? If your speedo still reads up to 180 (and odometer counts miles) then it would have one fitted. Perhaps its now missing?

i am not sure bout the revs work fine and normally the speedo would stop working but not add speed ??

I am not sure what you mean there?

Does it add 20mph to every speed, or, for example does it read 100 when you're doing 60MPH?

yer but when a speedo has a fault ive never heard of a speedo reading faster any ways it sounds like it might be reading kph like you say ill take it back to mr clutch and see what they say, is the speedo cable the one going into the top of the gear box?? cos i checked that and it dosnt seem loose or any thing
