Question V5, which headers and up pipe...

Hi all, want to change my rusty headers B4 they split on my V5 Turbo 2000.

Any suggestions of brand and supplier would be appreciated!

Was thinking pollished stainless but have heard heat rapped is best? Why is this? Will I also need the headers ported?

Also same info for up pipe.

Thanks in advance

No such thing as a version 5 turbo 2000, what MY is it as thats what uk cars go by (only JDM classic STI's have versions)

Well the V5 is the MY99.

As for the headers, are you sure it's not just the heat shields that are rusty. Grind them off, take them to pieces cleen up the insides of it with a dremel to make it a little more free flowing, and then heat wrap them. Will look much smarter and may unleash half a donkey. Standard ones are fine for at least 300bhp!
Headers are a major part of the scooby sound. You need to decide if you want to keep the burble or not if you go for stainless ones (which you can still heatwrap).

i wouldint buy the stainless ones if i were you bad for cracking get set of ported headers and a flow matched up pipe for your specific turbo from harvey smith on here far better performance and the after sales service is second to none!! buy froma company thats knows nothing except what they been told by the supplier harvey makes theres heatwraps them for you and will help you with advice as he fits them as well.

Only Version 5 STI's are MY99 cars, considering that UK cars came into existance in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 oh 5 versions there.... confusing eh! makes it a phase 1.5 engine and an MY98 car, MY99 cars are phase 2 engines and that would be a version 6

UK cars have MY, JDM classic STI's have Versions (except the first one) and it stops confusion

I see! Someone told me that it was a V5 on this forum. Lol.

Have been offered a free set of standard headers so I'll take the sheilds off clean up, bore out and heat rap if you think thats a good way forward! What about the up pipe? Anything I should do to this or should I consider sumink new?

Thanks

A new set for my V5 STI Type R were around the 350-400 mark(ish) but will have to look at the bill again (H&S) but heat wrapping them is a good idea, its not cheap, your looking at 2 inch and 1 inch heat wrap, between them it will set you back 70-80 quid for the good stuff (that doesnt fall off after a month ) or just do your standard ones up, send em off to be ported, the Subaru ones are pretty good when ported
