Default series mcrae import

i have got a scooby which on log book says series mcrae which is an import, is there any differnce between the imports and uk editions?

and also iv seen a uk edition which has a plate by the gear stick stating the model number, iv got a lil plate on boot lid sayin v-edition 0808 - 1000, with some big round badge saying manfacturing champions 1995 and also same badge stitched into the front seat.

Am i correct in sayin only 300 wher and uk spec and 1000 jap spec, iv tried finding out but had no luck so far...

any poss info would be helpful.

thank you

I thought the series McRae was a UK only lilited edition based on a 1995 Turbo 2000 produced by prodrive.

Subaru Impreza - Photographs and Pictures, Subaru Impreza WRX Sti, Subaru Impreza WRX, STi, P1, 22B, RB5, 2.5RS, Type-UK, UK300, SPEC-C, s202, WR1

the other jap editions being V-limited

I could be here for ages listing everything
Google works well

But as ive owned a Series McRae here goes:
UK Series McRAE obviously a UK spec car 219 bhp and crap torque
N plates normally with a few rare later ones
McRae plaque on the dash centre console
McRae recaro seats with louvred head rests
Mcrae stickers on the wings and the boot
Special blue paintwork
Safari 16" gold alloy wheels
200 made, no No 13
Series McRae Owners Club for all your UK needs
Special Edition - UK - Series McRae - 1995

After winning the manufacturers and drivers World Rally Championship titles in 1995, Subaru UK released a limited edition model called the Series McRae. Revisions of the standard model included Recaro sports front seats with open head rests and Series McRae motifs, interior trimmed in Le Mans/Avus material, Sunroof, special Series McRae decals, 8-spoke gold alloy wheels, and a special blue mica paint. Only 200 Series McRae's were produced.
The Japanese McRae was a RA I believe with some stickers and a few changes eg. seats with embroidery, not sure on the other changes.

So the basic differences are:
Different engine, wheels, suspension, paintwork, seats, exhaust, drivechain, aircon, sunroof, and er maybe brakes.

Thats the one, people refer to it as a McRae because of the name on the stickers and the boot badge

The signed seats are fron the "WRX type RA STi Ver II V-Limited" 555 units only.

Seats without the signature are the WRX V-Limited with a run of 1000. If the OP has a Plaque number 0808 than that's what he's got. Based on the 260 BHP WRX of the same year.

Not quite

by far the most common car to be confused with the Series Mcrae is the V2 STi Type RA V-Ltd (which isn't the car in the above link) As pointed out above, this is due to the commemerative badges/plaques & Mcrae signature seats.

This car then gets confused with the '555' (which is the car in the link) because it shares similarities (such as 53C paint code, roof vent) but comes minus the badges & seats (amongst other things)
