Default big problem, please help!

i have a serious problem with my car (uk 99 turbo, remapped)...
on my way home today and as i joined the motorway and put my foot down and car pulled away as normal then all of a sudden the car stared to hold back and misfire really badly.

managed to drive it home (slowly!) and after doing a few test drives i have found that the boost pressure wont go above 0.8 bar @ around 4000 rpm (normally peaks around 1.25bar.)

as soon as the pressure gets to around 0.7/0.8 it starts violently misfiring and spluttering feels like i am hitting a rev limiter and sounds a bit like anti lag (pop, pop, pop)

driving it slowly or below 0.8bar and its fine.

and here is a worrying extra.... when i opened the cap of the water filler (next to battery) there appears to be oily gunk on the cap and around the neck of the bottle, oil is fine with no sign of water.

please advise

did have a quick check and all hoses seem to be connected, is it more like like going to be the ones that are close to the turbo?

if seals were gone, would that cause the gunk in the water filler neck and cap?

up until the part about gunk in the overflow it would seem very much like a split/blown pipe. make sure you get your hand under the intercooler and check the pipe there.

I might be way off the mark mate....usually when turbo seals go all hell breaks loose and you wouldn't be able to drive the thing. When did you last have the oil changed? Not sure what would cause the oil itself to reach the filler cap!..starvation and splutering?

I 've had a hose come loose also and it sound like this. If it's under the I/C you will probably have to take it off to check.

Is the gunk something new. Do you regularly check the water bottle?

I found some gunk in the water bottle a while ago but none has returned.

whip the dump valve off and bung the holes up to rule that out as well. and in reply to your previous question you will want to concentrate mainly from the throttle body, through the intercooler and into the turbocharger. if its a split hose i would put money on it being one of those.

ALL SORTED!!!

as most of you suspected a hose popped off, the big pipe from throttle body to inter cooler, basically the jubilee clip had come off!

so thank god and scoobynet! it was an easy fix
