An HPI check would probably show up a discrepancy.

These garages should be reported the mot you had on the car will show the milage hpi will not,if you are sure you should report it otherwise these people are getting away with theft.

How can you accuse a garage of clocking a car that may have only just had it in? The original owner says he sold it in 2006, well it's 2009 now and an awful lot can happen in 3 years.
Personally i'd certainly call the dealer and advise them that the miles are dubious as they can then advise any potential customer that the odometer should be disregarded.

Quite right noone has said the garage has clocked the car.
However someone has!!
I would pop to the garage and ask to see its history.Past MOTs,import certificate etc .
It could be the garage have been duped but how likely is that
Nice to see a previous owner alerting potential buyers though

Well there selling it with a service history. So people will assume its right. So if that backs up th 55k then that looks very dodgy to me.

Thats still clocking. The rest of the car has still done more miles. Its not just the engine that wears out.
