Default RS Audi's

Was just looking on Pistonheads, confused as to why a 95' RS2 is a similar to a 2003 RS6 ?

Are they very highly regarded in comparison to the RS6 ?

LHD only i think (ah a few rhd ones for the uk market, only ever seen lhd ones), 4wd, very rare and even with 100k on the clock go for a premium if in good condition and have full service history

The problem with the RS6 is the issue with the suspension - an issue that Audi NEVER actually fixed, just replaced the parts until it went wrong again.

RS6 - unless you get a warranty, or change for Bilsteins (etc), could be very expensive.
Would still buy one!!

As for the RS2, well, loads of Porsche bits and quick as anything!!

180 RHD's only , hence the rarity and price!

A stage 1 remap = 380bhp

There is a special valve on the OE suspension that keeps failing. Only Audi has the special tool to fix this so you have to pay dealer rates which mean $$$.
Fixed by fitting aftermarket suspension.

The RS2 has been my favourite car since I can remember even knowing what a car was

0-30mph in like 1.5 seconds, which is equivalent to a F1 car of the same era

Also, being a 5cyl audi, the engines are built to last, even if you abuse them

One day I shall own one, I even nearly bought one a few months ago here in Japan, but I only had enough to buy it, not to run one

Regarded by die hard fast Audi fans, like the Escort Cosworth is regarded by Fast Ford fans. Hence strong residuals on both cars.

Its the DADDY of all things RS in the Audi camp, it started their 'M Car' attack. Because of this it has a massive following from VAG fans.

As post above it did beat a Mac F1 0-30 with a time of 1.5 secs and is still a very quick car with 315bhp 0-60= 4.8 secs

They must all be wrecks by now though as they're (15yrs?) old aren't they? I tried to stay with one a few years ago though & it blitzed me! Sounded awesome as it dodged in & out of m/way traffic.

quite the opposite - they are highly sought after (hence commanding the premium they do).
Mostly owned by die-hard enthusiasts. IIRC there's a write-up on Pistonheads about one of the journos buying one.....

Very good

I didn't know there were issues with the suspension on an RS6 till i read this thread - which is funny as i was behind one a few days back and it looked to be riding very weird to me. It had a bouncy/floaty thing going on which reminded me of huge 70's yank tanks - is that the symtoms of the problems?

Another DRC failure

Change the suspension and you've got a great car

S1 Quattro sport Evolution is theone and only Audi, they paved the way for 4 wheel drive systems in cars, the amazing thing about that model was the huge horse power and very little electronic gizmo's to assist driving it, they were very agricultural. And the Rally drivers that drove them, really had to drive them, almost all of the footage you see of the drivers at the end of any stage, shows them looking burst, covered with sweat and all red faced, these were un-harnessed animals of cars. From that came your S2 and RS2.
As road cars go, I really liked the older RS4 2.7 twin Turbo, so unasuming, at first just looks like a nice A4estate with only a small badge to distinguish it from the rest of its family. But i think it was the fastest production estate car in the world at one point.
Poor Benji the dog, never wants to go for walkies in that, he'd need scraped off the rear screen when you get to the woods.

Just remember this was 81-84etc

LOL Tony

You know what I mean though

Even with a DRC issue, that can be easily albeit not cheaply addressed, I'd still have one

Mine failed after a year of ownership.

Replaced with Bilstein.
Only other problem in 3 years of ownership was a water pump touch wood...although that was £900 at an independant as all the front of the car has to come off! Had the cambelt and tensioners done again in that price though.
