Dave T-S,

Why don't you lighten up you grumpy tw@t

A reasonable percentage of sales go to people who just turn up for a drive with no prior intention of buying.

Thats very true....I used to work in a Ford dealership....you would be amazed at the amount of buyers who "had no intention of buying today" !!
Best one was a guy who I talked into buying an Escort Cossie for his girlfriend - £30k worth.
Unknown to me he was absolutely loaded though, which helped, I guess....

Off topic but I work in the next building to you. Wondered if you posted on here. Have to say hello as we work at the same place.

Guess yours is the WRX then.

Jokes, no Scooby killer, but if any of you guys are around the Lancaster Sevenoaks dealership on Sat late morning, look out for an Integra R buzzing around, going to check out some of the more unusual Scoobie's they have in, like the 22B, thats a 2.2 right, so pretty quick then I imagine.
Only problem is, Ill have to keep a low profile, as Ive been in there a couple times "interested" in this car or that, and it always gets to the point where the poor saleman is sitting working out figures, getting phone numbers etc, and Im sitting there going "cool, I got to sit in a P1" or whatever, with absolutely no intentions of buying, so if spotted, they'll probably make me cough up on 4 or 5 different cars that I gave the impression that "I am very interested in buying".
Well hell, I would be very intersted, if I wasnt broke

Remember that most dealers read this board - they will be waiting for you now

DOH!! well, if you see a Integra driving slowly by with the driver staring longingly at the cars, then that'll be me.
With a head start, I should be able to out run an angry salesperson.

If you see a black WRX Wagon, with it's owner being shouted at then it'll probably be me

Might go and see the STi and ask them about doing a trade in fo my import see what they say about that.

Why don't you read the original post properly you blind tw@t

There isn't going to be a sale to someone who by his admission can't afford it....

Dave T-S, Ive only really been in a couple times, and was merely having a bit of a joke about having wasted salespeoples time, which, like most things, seems to have gone way over your head.
Hopefully Ill see a couple of you down there (please note, humourless tw@ts need not apply, hi Dave).

I have a problem with timewasters - but then you now say you aren't one (after originally saying you were.....?) so - no, no problem.

You can rest assured I shan't be there, cos i've got better things to do on a Saturday morning than waste a car salesman's time.

Oh, and let us know on Monday morning which Scoob you have bought. Since it was a joke that went over my head i.e I took your post at face value, and you are not a timewaster, you must be going there to buy something right??

Didnt mean that Dave, but chill out!!
I already have a job as IT Manager for a consultancy group in London, and besides, McDonalds arent hiring at the mo, soon as they do, Ill be there.
Ive enquired about a few cars at Lancaster, mostly out of interest, and its usually the salesperson that pushes to give me details on prices etc, so Im not entirely to blame, and besides, all they're doing is sitting in a quiet showroom twidling thumbs, or a lot of the time anyway, so its not like Im calling them away from a life or death emergency.
So try not to lose any sleep over Lancasters salespeople, they'll probably give me a few cold stares, but I doubt they are half as concerned about it as you seem to be.
Now, would you like chips with that?

Don't fight IT get a Scooby. IT Manager for a consultantcy firm eh? You may need a 5 dr Wagon to accommodate the LARGE pay cheque. A lot of the people who post here are in IT so it looks like you are just postponing the inevitable.

BUY!
BYE

Letdown.

Why don't you go to Lancasters and actually buy yourself a Subaru. Then you could post here with pride.

Incidentally, anyone who knows this man will understand why he's called himself "letdown", ironic really considering the tone of this thread.......

Neil.

You may well be totally correct that Lancasters' salesmen will not be bothered with a bit of tyrekicking - why don't you mail them the URL of this thread and ask them to comment???

BTW - if you sell your Integra privately and a complete tyrekicking timewaster comes round and spoils your Saturday morning - are you going to say to him, "no probs mate, I do it myself"??

Or is that different because it is personal?

Understand where I am coming from now???

I'll be Lancasters on Saturday to pick up my new........errr Jacket. I also work IT with an even more impressive title......Global Security Consultant. This means I get to wear a cap and check peoples passes at the door....! or do Firewalls and stuff.

Look out for a DBM MY00 (dirty)

Dave - Could not agree more I have had it done to me on several occasions - worse still are people who phone up and arrange to come round to view the car then don't - how f**king annoying is that!

From my own point of view I do not think that I have ever been into a dealers without some idea of what I want or just to kick tyres - the only exception being Marrenello's
although the Toyota Corolla GTI may have given away my financial status and I think they realized that I I was just enthusiastic. It can be easy to get drawn into the 'I'll just run some figures' bit by the sales person, you just need to be firm, just looking is just that.

oh, I feel a Mogadon moment coming on....

Its not even worth it, how can you compare working at selling cars for a living to putting aside personal Saturday mornings to sell one?
See, I go to DEALERSHIPS, not to someones house who would be somewhere else if I wasnt coming to look at a car.
Are you getting the difference yet?
I bought my Integra after going to have a look around Whitehouse Honda, I didnt go intending to buy, but after discussing figures with the salesman, he came up with a deal I was happy with, so I said yes.
Thats how I buy cars, I take oppurtunities if one presents itself, and how would I ever know what sort of figures Id be looking at if I didnt enquire.
This is so blown out of proportion by you Dave, whats the problem?
If it was a case of twice a month Id understand there being a problem, but its not, if I see a nice car in there, I have a look, maybe once every few months, if the salesperson asks if Id like to know what it would cost me, I say yes, I look at the figures, and if they are suitable, Id buy it. Just like I did my Teg.
So, you want to stop being arsy, because you seem almost intelligent, and this is making you look stupid, especially the private sale as opposed to a salesperson working at a dealership comparison.

The P1 has gone mate!
apparently as bloke in an Integra type R came dashing in, Snatched the keys of of a bored lookin' sale person handed over a wad of used reddies and an old honda key and dissapeared in a cloud of tyre smoke (could have been brake dust coming off of the wheels mind!). yelling " i'll show that Dave "

Just goes to show!

By the way this is just my feeble attempt at humour - The P1 may well be there.

Oooh well, have to try the TVR garage instead.

Which reminds me .... I once blagged a 4.5 Cerbera for the weekend. Salesman rings up about a week later and gets my wife on the phone and he explains that I test drove a TVR for the weekend and was I interested in buying. My wife had actually been away and didn't know that I had the car for the weekend and she said "He's not having one, cos he can't afford the divorce settlement as well as the TVR......!" Young salesman made his excuses and hung up!

So near but yet so far....

Jeff
