Default Hello from Rob @ A-Plan

I thought I would re-introduce myself as we have agreed to advertise within the site again.

My name is Rob, I've worked for A-Plan for more years than I care to remember and am based in the Thatcham office - tel 01635 874646.

My history of cars starts with a dodgy 205 Gti, then moved on to a Mark 1 MR2, followed by a FTO. Sadly someone wrote the FTO off so I moved onto a MR2 Turbo followed by the Scooby. I had the UK Turbo 2000 which I loved but sadly managed to blow the engine up costing me £3k plus to get fixed!

We should have all the sponsorship bits sorted within the next couple of days but if anyone has any queries insurance or needs a quote give me a call or PM me.

Look forward to speaking to you.

Rob

Someone A-Plan insured is in here now, fretting because your clown of an assessor said his superb STI V6 was worth £3,500.

Heard good things about them, saying they insured imports and young drivers only to be told when i called them that they would not insure me on my subaru. Was not impressed

I was insured with A plan but typically after the first year the premium went up by a considerable amount without my particulars changing so I went elsewhere. [not KM as I found the call taker too pushy and so arrogant.]

Call operator was pushy and arrogant when they told me they would not insure me. Not to worry at my over 1k insurance payment that went to another company. Insurance renawel is up soon but i dont think i will call a plan again.

Been with A-plan for years now and have generally been very good, but this year my premium went up A LOT considering I had, had another incident free year of motoring, can't say I'm impressed about it going up at all, I phoned them and expressed this and they found a cheaper insurer for me that came in considerably cheaper than their previous quote, all things the same but they told me the insurer didn't do like for like Mod cover..... If I have declared my Mods and my premium has been inflated due to the mods surely I should get the same back if anything should happen to my pride and joy?!

It is worrying to read the value they put on the Sti. Im with A-Plan, and they were cheap, but that means nothing if your going to stiff the customer ££££'s when a claim is made.
Can i arrange a fixed value?

I'm with A-Plan already too. Reading through that other thread surprises me somewhat. If A-Plan are trying to market themselves as performance car specialists, why are they sending out any old assessor to value cars? Its sod all use if he looks at the car and goes "yep, thats an impreza. now, where did i put my Glasses guide....."

The whole reason i went with a (so-called) specialist was to be safe from some monkey at Direct Line under-valueing my car by a few grand if the worst happens.

Will be interested to read A-Plans response

edit - just at add, i'm sure that A-Plan are fine 99% of the time, but it only takes one bad example to make people think....

How much would you charge to insure my modified MY00 Classic.

All mods are listed in my plus profile.

Plus I currently live in Germany so will need a green card for a whole year at a time and not just 90 days. If you can give me a realistic price and and insure my car out of the country then I will be very interested.

Been with A plan for 6 + years on both my cars.Last year someone drove into my Impreza while the wife was using it for business use.As the damage was minor A plan appointed a company to persue the matter as I did not wish to make a claim in the event of the other driver not being insured or my wife being at fault. Legal Solutions who dealt with the matter were faultless. I recently enquired regarding getting a decat and remap. I was even advised to wait until remewal time in 2 months to have the mods done to save on any admin fee to change the terms of risk. Based on my personal experience, I can recommend them fully. Bob

When getting quotes for my 08 IMPREZA S GT A-Plan were the dearest by over £300 & a stupid excess of £800, went with Norwich Union £340 & £150 excess, then A-Plan pestered me for weeks telling how good they were.

People paying attention will draw their own conclusions then. Having experienced both: Id deal with Keith Michaels.
