Clutch slip when turbo comes on boost?
Hi,
Noticed when driving on the motorway that when my MY01 WRX came on boost at ~3000rpm, there appeared to some clutch slippage, as there was the usual sound of the turbo comes online and putting in more power, that come in, and then a decrease in power briefly. Can't be completely sure.
Haven't notice any problems before, as there is no problem below 3000rpm or over it, but it does worry me. The car has done 55k on the current clutch so I suspect that, but I gather that this can cost quite a bit.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks a lot
Jon

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
At first it will only slip at peak torque in top gear, the greatest load.
As it gets worse it will do it in 4th, then 3rd, then probably give up the ghost !
Mine is due out any minute !

Hi,
Thanks for confirming my suspicion, kinda what I thought. Can't really complain, the clutch has lasted quite a while.
Looks like the Exedy organic seems to clock in at at 200-250, just need to get someone to fit it Bell and Colvill (in East Horsley) will only wanna fit Scooby OE stuff and anyway I get a feeling that those guys are a bit expensive,so I'll need to find some where good in Surrey. Any ideas or recommendations?
Thanks again.

replacing the clutch in my 01 wrx have opted for a helix clutch(not being done untill end of month)juddering like a pig no slippage(cars sorned for a couple of months)helix recommended by zen + having new flywheel, sometimes worth spending a bit more, imo
