how do i read my boost gauge
hi just asking had loads of scoobies but never had a boost gauge in or knew what it was for ,, yeah i hear you laughing
can anyone tell me how to use it and what it should read .
im driving a standard impreza wrx 1995 l reg it as green panel filter and a baileys dump valve ..... and a uprated exhaust make unknown but bloody loud ....
A boost gauge is used to monitor the amount of pressure the turbo is pumping into the inlet manifold of the engine......
Your car should be running standard 0.9 bar pressure and should be reflected on the boost gauge with +or- 0.1 bar (dependent on how much you spend on your gauge).
I would just google for more answers if i was you though. As i'm sure everyones had a giggle at this question...
Good Luck

Also the gauge might be a dual vacuum/boost gauge (as most are). If it has negative markings (i.e. below 0, rather than from 0)), then it's also reading the vacuum present in the inlet manifold i.e. when the intake system is not being positively pressurised by meaningful boost from the turbo.
