The WRX Type-RA was the cheapest model in the range and it doesnt have anything that youve mentioned (and the weight is a myth too for the most part). The WRX STI Type-RA does have DCCD and a roof vent but the fifth injector was only found on early WRX Type-RAs. There arent any light weight panels either: all saloon bodied JDM vehicles have a light alloy bonnet, everything else: door skins wings and boot lids are just tales that people tell their mates.

More incorrect information. The STi RA was definitely lighter than the rest of the fleet. It didn't come with Sound deadening, No AC, No Stereo, Green Glass, and that right there is almost 200lbs(90.5kg). These are some the reasons it was called a Race Altered Impreza. Along with the Front helical LSD diff, and short gear ratio, the RA was the fastest Impreza made from 95-00.

The engines are not blue printed either, just the run of the norm STi engines for the year.

It was more like 50kg difference. The lightest of all was the early wrx ra at just 1170kg, in comparison its sister car (the wrx) was roughly 1220kg.
The sti ra's were actually heavier than the wrx ra's.

Basically op, the type R has two doors. The RA's have 4.

EFA.

You could also get a Type r in this guise but 99.999% were specked with aircon and electric windows and after V3 most had abs too, only thing different was they came with sound deadening and rear wiper.

I think this has been debated a few times and someone put a pic up of one that did have abs a few years back.

Its never been debated as far as I have ever seen....The WRX RA/Type R "V-Limited" and "Limited" versions had no dccd but had ABS.....Its really that simple

Well you probably had your head stuck up tubbs bum on that day as is quite usual.

I'll stand corrected on the dccd and maybe that's where the pic came from, a wrx type r.

I suspect that is what happened. Sti type r's never had abs.

I have a 95 WRX RA, It has no abs no electric windows or central locking or wiring for it and no dccd and no boot spoiler or side skirts so that is probably a big chunk of the weight saving over the standard wrx
