pressure switch??

Hi ,
Anyone know where I can get a 12v pressure switch from??
I need it for a diy water spray system.
I have tried maplins and RS.
They were the ones recommended to me but they do not sell any for 12v.

G, you might also like to consider a micro switch under the throttle pedal - I looked into fitting a pressure switch but decided that it might be better to start spraying before boost was reached so that the air would already be colder. Also think you only need it on when you boot it.

G, I already had one - it's a RS 10A SPST switch and will run the motor directly off the battery without the need for a relay. Got my pump from Halfords (£16) and the pukka STi nozzles from Scoobymania for £25. I fitted an arm switch next to the fog light switch, cost about £3, and take the water from the washer bottle. Get good results.

Can you mail me any details aswell please.
I have thhe nozzles and tank from an STI 2 and i am currently looking for a pressure switch to activate it.
So far i found one in work (similar to the aquamist switches)that we use for oil pressure sensing. They work at 0.8bar. I have tried it by connecting it to the boost guage pipe instead of the boost guage, but it just blew off the rubber pipe with the threaded connection on!!
Maybe i'll try again with a more secure connection

I have been trying to do this mod for a while, but as you have done it and have noticed that it works. I would like to see where you have placed the nossles etc.

I'll try and get some digi pictures tomorrow. When I fitted the system back in July the weather was fairly warm so the best time to see any difference. When I fitted the system I tried it out coming back from work (no point in the morning cos it was 5 am and cold anyway). I didn't notice any difference but when I got home I found out the hose had come of the pump inlet so wasn't working at all - this eliminated any psychological effect of it working. Next day tried again and could feel a reasonable difference in acceleration in the 50-70+ bracket. A few days later noticed that it wasn't as good as previously thought so checked it again and the motor had packed up! So the difference was obviously detectable. Got a new pump and it's been fine for the last 6 months. I am going to get a thermometer fitted, when I find a decent one, to measure the difference.

Basically, G, you'll need: STi nozzles from Scoobymania (£25)- the hole locations are obvious if you look at the scoop surround; washer pump from Halford (best one is £16); a micro switch for the pedal (£4); an in-line fuze (£1.50); a SPST rocker switch; some plastic/rubber hose (£3 ish); about 2 meters of wire, black is best (£2 ish); non-return valve, positioned close to the nozzles so you'll get instant spray. I find that normal driving gives me about a weeks worth of water running off the washer bottle which is big enough for about 2/3 minutes of continual use. I mounted my pump onto the wiper motor cos its rubber mounted and doesn't sound too loud. Hope to post some pictures soon. I'm convinced it's a worth while mod, especially for about £50!

Every STI + 22B I've been in have the "Refill your I/C" lit.. does the novelty wear off ?

with a more or less standard UK car I use it whenever I can and always give the car a weekly check. I haven't got bored with the advantages yet!

Looks like I already have the parts except the pressure/mirco switch.
I am still debating on which on to get!!
Where did you get the mirco switch from??

think I've found the switch part number - its a SPST 12A switch number 159-4411 (£1.20 ish). Mine slotted snuggly into the throttle pedal mounting plate between the bracket edge and a mounting bolt. Tried to get a picture but didn't come out very well.

I have an extra water bottle which I am hoping of mounting SOMEWHERE!! (no chance I guess)
Need to sort out the wiring and the switch.
