how to identify a dif with r160 or r180
hi i've just bought a 3.9 r180 dif, just wondering if anyone can tell me how to identify a dif that uses r160 shafts to a dif that uses r180 shafts? i've been told its an r180 from sti 7/8 car. thanks
R180 has a 180mm crown wheel, R160 has a 160mm crownwheel. However they are externally identifiable though difficult to describe.
Take a pic of the rear plate and post it up.
OK then John so it would be fair to say that the 180 diff has a larger body and rear cover than the 160?
Pretty sure I was told the above body size information from one of the techies @ Coordsport a couple of years ago. I had no reason to doubt them. Maybe I should have
I'll measure up a 160 and 180 diff when @ home and see what I get.
