Default Scoob wanted.

Hi people. Looking to buy a "Decent" Scooby. Looking for a low ish miles classic but more importantly it has to have been VERY well looked after. Don't want to have to fork out thousands weeks after buying it. I have cash waiting and didn't want to spend over £4000.
Any out there?
Luke

Go for a v4 STI. Stronger engine and gearbox internals than a WRX and a **** load more BHP than UK models.

You'd be able to import and get on the road a v4 sti with low miles and a good grade for £4k.

You've got £4k to spend on a classic. You're gonna get killed in the rush, if you post in the wanted section that is

Be very, very choosy. There are loads of Classics up for sale at the moment and most of them are asking a lot less than you are offering. Scoobynet is a good place to start as a lot of the owners on here have far more knowledge of their cars than is normal. Consequently most of the Scoobs you find on here will be in pretty good condition.

Good luck and have fun.

Have you decided which model you want? UK or import? 2 dr , 4 dr or 5 dr? WRX or STI? Special edition? Modded or standard? Facelifted or original ? Are age or mileage important? Colour? What is it going to be used for? daily runner? weekend toy? Trackdays?

A litttle more info may help narrow down your serach. Best of luck

Not really, more interested in condition. I drool over the STIs, it would be used for weekend toy. Age or colour don't bother me. If it was modded then max would be exhaust and filter if it was an STI

not sure about scrapped -- delayed maybe -- but if you get a car registered post march 2001 it will have the C02 emissions listed -- so at any time in the future the government would use this date to start road tax pricing by C02 emmissions -- sort of driving with a loaded financial gun to you head imo!!

to be honest if i have to pay the £400+ then i will, as driving a scooby is worth the price lol.

back to the thread starter, there are ALOT of pigs about mate, im not saying all scoobies are the same, but in my experiance alot of people sell there scoobies when there is something wrong with it like fecked clutch or something. i have owned a '93 wrx pushing 322 bhp, a uk wagon standard power and a v5 type r v-ltd and my new bugeye, they were all totally different cars , but looking back the type r was GREAT FUN, if ur lucky you may get one of these at this moment in time with the credit crunch etc ...
good luck with whatever you choose,

i hate buying a new car as i always promise to myself not to buy the furst one that comes along, then the money burns a hole in my pocket and it goes **** up lol.

4k will get u a standard 1 maybe with the odd breather mods, most will be rapped....took me 7 months to find a decent sti version 3 cost me 5k, with low mileage, japanese an uk service history all import documents. look for quality maintanence.....majority of these imports are grade 2z sold stating as grade 5z lol, if the condition of the car does not match the mileage just walk away

My old scoob. Forget the mileage. New engine @ 70,000, all new suspension @ 130,000 and new gearbox/clutch @ 135,000.

Not to mention 75% spraywork re-done last year. It's well known on here as an excellent classic, with no engine mods (apart from silicone hoses and vta blow off valve.)

You could do much much worse, trust me. People are scared at the mileage, why, the three main componenets have been rebuilt/replaced, along with all the usual wear/tear things. £3k Jamie wants for it. £1k left over would see nearly 300/300 bhp/lb ft.

It's being picked up on Tuesday and I have a deposit of £200. I just think you have to be realistic about the price. If you overprice something then you'll never sell it. Don't forget that the car you'll be getting next will also have lost a fair bit.

There is plenty of bargains to be had out there at the moment, I paid 4k last month for my MY99 V6 STi with 70k miles on the clock, tein coilovers, alloy drop links, full decat exhaust system, induction kit, 17" wheels. and im loving it at the moment. interior and paintwork is mint on the car, apart from a couple of small car park dents, but its nearly a 10 year old car, so only as expected.
