Thumbs up sti 330s driven

popped into stan palmers incarlisle for my scooby's service and was offered their brand new sti 08 demo with 330 prodrive mods with recaros i can just fit into-i had better lose some weight for my murtaya lol!

car dove very nicely-best ppp i have driven very easy in town no kangarooing at all and once in open country power keeps coming smoothly but strongly up to 6500rpm-not got 1,000 miles yet so no redlining.

it cruises along at ***mph easily with almost instant pick up from the turbo.
it is a white demo with carbon fibre on the roof and discreet 330 badges
in summary-very impressed and recommend you get a test drive for a scooby that has it's ***** back
many thanks to ian for test drive unaccompanied as he kept my 3 children as hostages lol

Did you not find that the feedback from the chassis & the steering was very negative and distant?

I found this and also the suspension/ride very wallowy and a lot of body roll. Some Prodrive springs should be included as part of the package IMO to reduce this and improve feeback.

Powerwise, its a big improvement over the standard STI which seriously lacks any mid range power.

The new exhaust give you a deeper note and some noise at last.

Still needs a lot of improving before I get clawed away from my current STI PPP

Forgot to add. I drove this Standard STI hatch for a week before t/driving the 330S and found the standard STI seats a huge improvement over my STI 07 and better then the recaro's in the 330S.

Apparently there's some STI 19" 17 spoke wheels out soon which I think will actually benefit the look of the hatch as current wheel just dont suit.

i could just fit into recaros-bit too small for me
demo car is on 18's-look like focus st's but not too sure of the type, with ride quite smooth and less wallowy than my 03sti
did not get a proper chance for sliding as police car appeared infront of me at roundabout coming off motorway...
steering in a scooby has never been it's best part

I only sat in the 330s and loved it. The seats, perfect! It felt like a cockpit in there and would've loved to take it for a spin.

I drove a demonstrator with the 19" wheels and didn't like the feel or the look of them...abit like after market audi wheels.

I pick my 330s up next week...

Dark grey metallic
BBS wheels powder coated anthracite
STi front spoiler
Front fogs
Sports grill
Mudflaps

One niggle though, the sat nav/media unit has a built in bluetooth phone unit but you have to buy a separate mic to use it !!!!!!.

Now counting the days down to collection and will then decide to get the prodrive spring kit when it comes out at Xmas or go with the AST's.

Is there some leeway in the wheel choice then Clive?

I didn't like the chunky 5 spokes that came as standard, the dealer checked on his system and found that some cars were available with the BBS wheels instead.

My understanding is that all the 330s cars are premium euro cars which come standard with BBS wheels which are taken off and replaced with the 5 spoke when prodrive do their bit.

Mog - I'll be interested in what you think of the mudflaps, are these a Subaru item, Prodrive or someone elses? Think I may need some paint protection for winter... it's wafer thin on my WR Blue.

They are Gen Subaru flaps, I also noted that the 330s has a larger area of rear arch "armour fend" than standard perhaps because of the complaints about pebble dashing !!!!

Yeah I've seen the RA ones and not sure about them for me, I ran kaylan copies on my bugeye and thought that style was ok on the saloon, that said if I dont do something not sure what state the paint will be next year, hoping for a mild winter I think.
