i was watching a video on you tube of an impreza being filmed from behind on a tunnel run i think...
where flames were firing out of the exhaust all the time
what i want to know is do all imprezas do it or is it just tuned ones or something

 

the flames are unburnt fuel igniting on the hot exhaust(unless you have a flamer kit ), also i don't think it happens on cars with cats in the exhaust although i'm not 100% sure about this.

Mine does it when exhaust temps are hight due to having a VTA dump valve. The dump valve releases the air but the fuel goes through to the exhaust as it does not combust in the engine. As soon as it gets to the back of the exhaust and hits the air providing the exhaust is hot enough it explodes into flames.

 

post the link for the video mate it wont work with cats u have to have a de cat and a vta and it usually works

Mine pops quite regularly.....does this mean I'll have little flames popping out the rear as well? Mines all de-catted.

 

on mine - Full decat + map = Flames

You probably get the odd one ot two yes, drive it hard and they,ll appear..

My mates old scoob used to flame well, i know its a bit chav, but would be cool before i die. Not the big flames, the blue jet like flames with a good pop.
