Only 305 lbs torque from remapped sti uk my05 with freeflowing exhaust?
I am disappointed with my torque figures after 2 remaps on my uk sti my05. Car has a Prodrive downpipe, Prodrive backbox and a decat centre section, as well as a freeflowing panel filter and Walbro fuel pump. The car in unexciting to drive with no real sense of mid range rush that I'm used to with previously owned Impreza's.
It is now 305 lbs, which I feel is very low, considering some cars on here have the same mods as mine and make a minimum of 330 lbs after mapping.
Does the torque figure seem below avarage? Considering that so many people on here slate PPP, they can't be doing a bad job if their torque figures are very close to 300 lbs, plus PPP retains the restrictive Subaru centre section and is an 'off-the-shelf' package, so a bespoke individual remap should surely make at least 20 lbs of torque more than say a PPP package.
Unless my car has an undiagnosed problem, which I would have expected reputable Subaru specialists to have noticed.
I would welcome all your opinions and experiences please, maybe starting with do you feel that 305 lbs of torque is very low for my car with its exhaust and filter?
Thanks!

I have the PPP kit on mine plus a STI panel filter, Bob Rawle mapped it and according to his Dyno dash we got 336 bhp / 340 lbft, I took it to a RR day a while back and it made 323 bhp and 330 lb/ft, all cars that day were low including an V8 RS4 (414bhp) with Milltek that made 360 odd bhp , So given the lottery that is Dyno days i would say Bob's numbers are there or therabouts
Does the 305bhp come from a dyno ?

I've got a 54 (05 model) STI with PPP (plus Green panel filter) and on a dyno dynamics rolling road at WRC-Tech it produced 301.9 bhp and 307.1 lbft as a comparision to yours. This was on Sainsbury's super unleaded as well
.
As marklemac says speak to your mapper if your concerned, perhaps it was a very conservative map.

The engines vary greatly... some produce good power/torque some do not..soundllike you just have a slightly lazy engine mate.
When the 1st 2003 PPP's were coming out they were advertised at 300 odd...most hit this figure... but some RR'd at only 270...(same day/RR as each other)

Yes it does, the car has been on 2 different rolling roads, the owner of the first rolling road said the torque figure was the lowest he'd seen, and my engine seemd like a 'Friday afternoon engine' which obviously I didn't want to hear!

25/30 lbs ft torque isnt going to make the difference between a car with no mid range rush and one that feels lethargic. It's the shape of the torque and bhp curves that matter. Asuming no faulty parts, it sounds like your car hasn't been mapped optimally, mate. There is no way a new age STi should be lacking in the mid range dept.
Have you spoken with your mapper about your concerns. Who did the work?

Thanks for your comment. So the best sti's with the same mods as mine will only produce 310 lbs of torque or thereabouts? What about the many cars on here that have 330+ lbs of torque with the same mods as mine? TSL 333 car owners for example?
It must be me then, I've obviously got spoilt with previously owned jdm's.
Maybe you could suggest the next step in mods to achieve my desired 330-340 lbs of torque.
Thanks
My 05STi with PPP, STi uprated panel filter and PRF7B spark plugs made 354bhp and 348lb.ft @1.5bar according to Bob's figures. Bob did say that my engine took more advance than most. See my profile for a graph.
How much boost are you running, as that can have quite a big effect on torque. Your figure does seem very low.

My on car is an MY05 UK STI.
I had PPP fitted from new, then Andy Forrest remapped it at the start of the year.
After remap 335bhp with very similar torque.
I also run it on Sainsbury's super unleaded.

my 05sti ppp with green filter, prf7b plugs, de res centre and afterburner back box and remapped by Jolly Green Monster, 349 bhp/343lbft. That figure was only Delta dash so probably a bit less.

P.s What colour is it? Blue ones make the best power

i had mine done and got 270 bhp and 277 lbft at the wheels (about 325 / 335 ) all at 1.4 bar (that's stock i think) but as people have said already some seem to get better figures than others
my exhaust/filter/fuel pump set up about the same as yours, when i took mine in i asked for as torque as possible to recreate that raw grunt from my last remapped classic, at the expense of horsepower if necessary. maybe your map needs tweaking to what you want from the car?
A lot of you people on here have a 3 port boost solenoid, whatever that is. Maybe I could purchase one and have it fitted to my car.
i've seen quite a few posted up here with lowish looking torque figures but with about 340 bhp, what was your bhp mate?

Bhp is 335. I think my boost is 1.4 bar also. I just expected the car to have that big surge like a jdm, I dind't realise the difference in driveability in a remapped jdm compared to a type UK would be that great, but evidently it is. The UK car just doesn't feel as immediately flexible and responsive as a jdm. Hmm, maybe have to get another jdm next year, if the economy is still intact!

should have bought your cars the other way round
sounds like you've gone backwards

Firstly I assume this a 2litre?
A lot of replies and comparisons appear to be referring to 2.5?
It does appear imho low on lb.. usually see within 10lb or the bhp figure if not more.. varies on the 01~05sti depending on vf34 or vf35 as to which is higher bhp or lb.
The prodrive downpipe is pretty good..
That all said.. knowing who mapped it I wouldn't expect it to be a mapping issue..

I will check through the plots I have on the laptop.

My 03STI with the same mods as the o/e poster, achieved 337 bhp and 305 torque at Powerstation. I thought my torque was low but it drove great so I was content.
