None of us know much about transmission ratios on Autos as there is little data outside of Japan and all their stuff is in Japanese. I am not sure that l would rely upon information from the USA or anywhere else, as the JDM cars are quite often a different spec. to anywhere else in the world.

It is most likely an open diff at the rear with a viscous centre and open at the front. I guess. Don't ask what final drive? - as I don't have a clue.

YES, Don't drive it an inch further The gearbox is final drive 4.4 and the WRX is 4.1.

You have probably already wrecked the centre diff in the gearbox. Either take it out and get a WRX box or get the matching diff.

In any case l think the box will need to come out to replace the centre viscous diff as i suspect you will now have a 2wd Impreza.

oh dear oh dear dont look like that was a good idea...does it now!

strange David after changing my gearbox & diff oils which were done by a so called "gearbox" specialist near where i live 13 months ago,but somthing just didnt sit right with me about the work they did!.
the rear diff oil was filthy & it took a while for me to get the overtightened drain plug out so it looks like they never change that.
the front diff which should contain 1.2ltr actually had 1.6ltr in it because i measured the drained oil,i thought that was just taking the **** really!!!
...and the autobox even when cold was way way above the "hot full" mark...
absolutly terrible to say it had been done by experienced gearbox mechanics,...more like a bunch of greasy retards! anyway now I know its right i feel better & am amazed how much better the transmission feels & it feels less draggy & more responsive.
