Why don't motorbikes have registration plates on the front?
Its always seemed a bit unfair. I reckon it must be pretty unlikely that anyone gets caught by fixed speedcameras, the bulk has got to come from mobile units where they photograph the front of your vehicle.....and motorbikes don't have a front numberplate?!?!?
IIRC it was pedestrian safety, the number plates were verticaly mounted, and aligned front to back on a lot of bikes, so they were basically a blunt blade on top of the front mudguard. My brother had one on his Norton 500 and was well pleased when he could take it off.

bikes get done by scamra vans all the time. usually there are too operators, one takes a pics or a note of the plate as they go past.
the fact that the cameras themselves are not approved for use on bikes is neither here nor there.

always want to cut bike plate in half and put hinges in the middle and then a piece of string upto the seat that you sit on
but I think I would get the book thrown at me several times..

Ive been riding bikes for years, my last bike was a beautiful Ducati 916SPS and my fastest was a Honda SP-1.
To be fair, I've been caught about 5 times in about 15 years for speeding in cars, normally when doing 90 mph on a dry clear motorway....however, I've never been caught on the bike even though I generally 'make better progess' when riding one.
The reason? Well, there aren't any distractions when riding a bike, nobody yapping in the passenger seat, no music blasting away. All you do is ride and observe, so when you do see a 'safety' camera van you slow down and wave as you go past.....
You'd be surprised how much more you see when you ride a bike.......although sometimes it's a little blurry..

How else would you know where the limit was if you didn't overstep it occasionally (or several times in my case - OUCH)
