Default 3rd went BANG!

hi, looking for help, was driving bk from wales last wk end wen 3rd gear decided to explode on me, wud like to no where the best place to get a gear box from?

Spec - 97 UK spec running 330 bhp/330 torque

i only use the car @ the wk ends

any advice/help or suggestions wud be greatful

3rd went on my classic, scoobyclinic fixed with new clutch for just over 1k

You can pick up a secondhand box in good nick for anywhere around £250.

Have a look in the FS section, place a thread in the 'wanted' section and try ebay.

If you want something stronger you will be looking at around £1500 for a 6 speed or a fair bit more for PPG.

tbh at that power your gonna kill a standard box unless yoru carefull, 330ftlb is right at the upper limit of a uk box, only real option to keep it for any length of time is 6 speed or ppg
