Default Crunch when putting into reverse

iv'e just started to notice 60% of the time i try and put the car into reverse it crunches....so i stopped car and tried on a number of accasions and it doesnt do it everytime just every now and then...and that is with the clutch right down to the floor,i went out in the car last night and at times it seems hard to get it into gear at times
does anyone know what it could be??

Most of them do it. Try putting it in first then reverse or out of first, clutch up then dip and put in reverse.

Is the pedal travel and biting point ok ?
Has the clutch fluid ever been changed ?
It might be time for a Oil change on the gearbox if its a recent occuring problem.

most of the troubles getting into any gear is down to the syncro ring on the gearing. I suffer the same problem with reverse, and personally i think its down to the syncros, as they wear, its harder to line the gear up for the change, therefore it cruches and grinds. if it is the syncros then your only option is to have the gearbox serviced and the syncros replaced.
you can try changing the oil, and some of the additives that places like halfords offer, but to be honest, you will just delay the inevitable.

turned out, slave cylinder had gone...clutch went all together other night...turns out it had dumped all its fluid as the rubber had gone or something along them lines...at least its nothing to do with the gear box!
