Default (slating a being branded a chav) your rants for today let hear em what tickingyou off

well the comments and slating of my subaru and being called a chav havnt stopped since i got it even tho that alomost 100% of people saying this drive saxos corsas the odd vxr and golf gtis. even tho not one of them with single chance of even being able do what my baby will do,

what realy made me laugh was other day i told my car was s**t and chavy and im chav for driving it, get this by a guy in track suit with a bleached blone line down his head driving a red corsa c listing to mcing c**P.

how the hell have you guys coped all these years im pulling my hair out its getting on my nerves now. and i dont want to sound like im offending or slating others, but evo drivers are ping me off they all wanna show of a gob off and slate me. ialways get the comment just bought a subaru coz i cant afford an evo no its becuase i wanted a subaru i was going to buy and evo5 but i dont like driving them.
I did get one over the other day tho with and fq330 he smirked at me and went to shoot off so stuck on his back and pulled next to him at the next lights and he wouldnt look at me. but why what is the need for all this snobbery .

also im sick of being told to slow down or have ppl shake there head at me becasue my car is loud for godsake just because its loud doesnt meen im speeding and im the one who needs grown im told

right i fell better now just a bad morning and i had to rant any body elses rants welcome

Wouldn't worry too much (just don't use any text speak though )

Ignore them ,yes the early imprezas do have the image because young people do buy them and drive like tossers (not all obviously).
I don't get problems with most Evo drivers there is 1 round my way who thinks he's great but i normally get a nod or acknowledgement off them and return the compliment.

People are normally simpletons louder the noise ,faster the driving i've had a few people say this to me to which i reply 'Do you actually know what speed i was doing? Dop you have my speedo in front of you?' then depending on their response a curt 'So you don't know then' to the good old '**** off'

i just get funny looks from most evo drivers i see but then like you said most younger people do drive like idiots and i am only young still the whole sterio type thing goes against me. i like to think of my self as quite a sensible young driver realy.
yeah i do accelrate fast at times and when i do its on the correct roads, but i never exceed the speed limits in silly places and if i do exceed, its when i see it fit to do so ie nothing around or on a sensible road i know.
ive always took the time to learn about my car find where it bites play about in places where no one is before ill ever give any abuse.

id say my record stands for me the cars ive owned and never having an accident.

just to name a few ive had a toyota mr2, celica gtfour, old mk3 astra gsi,
rover coupe turbo. golf with a gti conversion.

and ive never been pulled or spoke to by the police because they havnt had a reason to about my driving. not wraped car around a lamp post or ditched it.

I'll be honest when i say i couldn't give a toss what looks i get or comments people make.In my eyes its pure jealousy!I don't drive fast my car is 110% legal in every way i work hard and earn a good wage, which is more than can be said for most the people with the attitudes.Oh and as for the evo drivers, which in all honesty i dont have any probs with,i got the last laugh recently,he had been trying to race me through a 40mph zone (yep he had a car load of mates) but i wasn't bitting,so when we stopped at the next set of lights he revved the nuts of it and when the lights changed.........................................he stalled it not only did he feel the shame from all his mates but all the people standing around waiting to cross the road!!!!Ahhhhhhhhh sweet comeupance

firstly my grammars pants too, so as long as the "txt spk" is left well away, most users will understand some are better at english than others. except coffin dodger, hes a troll

second, ive had three scoobs and im still 23. one was a sport when i passed my driving test, then a silver older wrx, and thirdly my red uk classic turbo.

you will always get looks.
  • the ones from the evo gang are because they want the burble
  • the ones from the saxo/corsa/punto/nova etc. crew are simply jealousy
  • the ones from the family man/woman in a golf tdi/mondeo/vectra/4x4 etc are because they dont know any better or the ins & outs of a performance car enthusiast
  • and the ones from the rover/daewoo driving old dodderers are because they simply cant remember the last time they filled their colostomy bags
im in a little pug 205 gti now for reasons previously mentioned in other threads. i honestly find being in a smaller car that was/is considerably cheaper to buy and insure than my old scoob
  • that less people let you out
  • more people cut you up
  • you get more "poor chav" looks from people
the bottom one makes me chuckle as again the catagoris above simply dont realise that although just a old french hot hatch, its still a fun legendary handling little car, and certainly more fun/exciting to drive/pootle around in than said car catagoris above also.

in a nutshell dont worry about it, unless you were adidas pants, a baseball cap, reebok classics, listen to hardcore and have lexus lights

could always post a couple of pics and let the masses decide.

Only ever had one negative comment shouted at me when driving my car, but have had people make good comments and ask about the car on a number of occasions........ Christ knows why you have had such a bad time of it............. Is you car chaved up with loads of Halfords extras? If so then that may explain the negative attitude to your car.

I have a UK classic (1996 pre face lift) with 17 inch gold wheels and an STi rear spoiler and the original Subaru leather optional interior so looks nearly original.

I get branded all the time

People immediatly think "scum, drug dealer, mug " everything you could think of to be honest, just because I've got a loud exhaust, a fast car and window tints all round.

Makes it 10 times worse when I step out in my Adidas tracksuit bottoms, Adidas trainers and a Berghaus jacket. I'm not a charver or anything I just feel comfortable in them plus the fact 50% of my life is in the gym and I don't want to go there in jeans etc.

Personally if someone comes and has a pop saying I'm a charver etc. I just laugh. Turn the music up and rev the engine if I'm not near home. If I'm near home, I get out and laugh cos the people who've said it swallow their ***** when they look at a short bloke, full of tattoos that's got bulging arms due to going to the gym 5-6 times a week.

You've just got to laugh and shrug it off.

Not had any problems myself, with the exception of a few mates winding me up... but that is an image based on other cars not mine. They just happen to be called the same thing.

I do get the odd bit of grief from the odd boy racer as they think my Impreza is slow as I don't have plastic bits everywhere. They soon learn different.

Ignore it. If you have an Impreza with bling bits and oversized styling parts... what do you expect?

Ignore them chap; at best they're misinformed, at worst they're either ignorant or envious a lot of the time.

As long as you enjoy the car and don't drive/act like a tool then you've nowt to worry about.

I got called a boy racer this morning by one of the blokes at our stables - I'm 42! Mind you, he's some kind of accountant and drives a Micra!

Most of the other lads up there are fine, although I did have to laugh at one who always makes sarky comments to folks. His comment was "I always preferred the Evo" - this from a guy who keeps failing his driving test and doesn't own a car! LMAO He's the sort who would say he "always preferred the Scooby" if I turned up in an Evo (which I'm tempted to do to see what he "always preferred" then - John Deere perhaps? )

In the end, opinions are like **** holes - everyone's got them, but you don't have to pay them any attention!

I had a bad one a few weeks ago...

I Was passing through a local town which was very busy, in a queue of traffic. I am on the main road and there are people on my left at a junction trying to pull out onto the road I am on. So I let a lorry and 2 cars out when the cars infront of me move - pretty fair you would think!

Now I start to move forward and get on my way again, and notice some old C*** in a daihawoo or whatever it was, edging out onto the road. I thought he might have had the sense to put the brakes on when he saw me driving towards him...but apparently not, as he just pulled out in front of me, tyres lighting up in the process .

Anyway, being in a relaxed mood I thought "ah just forget about it", and didnt give him so much as a dirty look. But with it being a hot day, both our windows were down, and as he passed me he told me to "slow down FFS!!!!". Needless to say that got him a load of abuse in return. Just couldnt believe the abuse I got was coming from a 70+ year old.

This is the problem though...ignorance! It honestly doesnt bother me what people think, but when they start being aggressive I get pissed off

None of the above would have happened if I wasnt driving a Subaru.

nope nothing added on just a 5.5 can as every impreza has and nice fmic recently fitted but i cut the bumper a bit dodgy and need a new one
also its dark blue untinted now and in fairly top condition.
but i love it ive wanted one since i was 14 and went my mates one on holiday in cyprus its was the first and only car to truly scare the hell out of me like it did.
it was 350 bhp sti like but i loved it and said id get one but i did had a breif period where i wanted a skyline but ive reverted back to setting my heart on owning a nice 22b one day.

picture time any excuse will do

yer dont worry about it matey, ive only owned mine a few weeks, but im loving not being let out of junctions or treated with any respect on the road lol. people do pull out of the way though.

the people who buy evos think there buying a more driver focused car, and that buy driving one there driving skill increases 10 million percent. maby thats cost of all those computers on board lol

id love an evo, but subaru's are just so damm cooler!

exactly what i say they most claim its more of drivers car but its not at all gizmos and crap subaru is just so fun and can be civalised i love its comfortable to .

when u hit the bendys they grab you buy the ***** makes you smile but it like that gap between being dead and alive and for them few minutes its whole diffrent world for me. its the only car ive driven since my old mr2 that matched its fun and grin factor, its just the fact it demands your full attention at all times that one wrong move could be irreversable and its that rush is what keeps me sane and alive.
its just got such a subtle look in a standard form and its so basic and simple to it doesnt boast about what it is it just knows what it is.

You moving on to the I drive a Lexus jumper wearing brigade then

Must admit I probably wouldn’t have got a Scooby if I lived in the UK would have saved up for an Evo but here in France they are very rare and people stop to take pics of the car (hope not for barryboys )
But after owning my car I couldn’t give a shi* for the £££ I really don’t think you can beet it

I'm dropping my subaru soon.

Standard scoobys are fast.

I have seen lots of scoobys with lots of mony spent on the remaping and engine mods and most of them pull less than 500bhp.

I think you can tune other cars for even less and pull higher bhp figures.

Saw a older tuned m power bmw the other day on the rollers pull 620 bhp.

I think that would have had a hell of a lot of money thrown at it too. Don't be under any any illusions that performance comes cheap! You don't get 620bhp power for nothing! Obviously the guy uprated the entire car to handle that amount of power?

Don't get down hearted, its not all scooby haters out there. Only yesterday I had complements about mine when stopped at my local petrol station.

However, the bloke was hammered and carrying a bottle of salad cream

stock scoobys are quick but to get the figuires you get out of a scooby from most other cars you need 500 horse power.
my mate had a 550 odd bhp skyline gtst spent about 15 k on it and would only pull a 13 sec quater and would get to 60 in about 5.5 top speed was like 170-80 like but stil it was a bumer for the amount of money spent.

also another mate has a 300+ brake new astra hatch sri turbo spent about 6 k still doesnt get any where near my scoob.

the evo i was messing with fq 330 mapped by some company and full exhaust see him regulary there was nothing between us.

its not just power just because you have big brake doenst make a car quick.

the scooby is tailord to put the power to the wheels and move and thats what it does and its difficult to improve on that from what ive done all you seem to do by moding is pull out lots more response and higher pulling power in later gears.

imo what else does what a scooby will do and be proper drivable car to.
mine ows me now 3400 including buying it fixing it and playing with it,
and ive played around with and evo 330 new m5 my mates astra two lads i see out when i go the pub have 600 cc bikes ones a r reg ninja and stage 2 new megane f1 not a single one of them has been quicker.

5've never had any bad words apart form one person who came up and accused me of being a drug dealer !! Poor simple minded fool.

Other than that I must say I've had nothing but positive comments and I find it hilarious that I've driven past schools being some flash cars like Ferraris and its always the Impreza that the kids seem to love.

Also the Impreza is the only car I;ve never been stopped by the Police in and the local Police in thier Evo even gives a nod.

I think not driving like a p3nis everywhere helps.
