Default How long do your tyres last?

What's the average lifespan on a set of tyres with the car not being driven too hard? Looking to change my back ones but was just wondering what the average is?

i use F1s on my 93wrx and they normally last 18 months (about 9000 miles)with above legal tread (also i have the tracking done about every 6 months).

My first set i drove quite hard especially into corners/roundabouts and the lasted about 6 months

I've had a few sets of F1's they have lasted 22K and 25K miles and then a set of toyo's T1S's which lasted 18K.

Normal driving with a mix of motroway and lanes, No Round abouts near to where I live, the nearest one is 25 miles away!!!!

my yoko parada's lasted me 20k (18 months)

would easily expect 12k out of a set (depending on geometry)

Yes that's the problem, too many roundabouts near to me and a roundabout to a scooby is like a red rag to a bull!

My RE070s did 16500 miles. They were rotated at 9000 miles and the tracking was done twice. They still had a mm or two left before hitting the legal limit but they looked done on the outer edges - just the nature of the tyre. I could feel them getting twitchy at the back under hard driving and decided it was time to change.

I've got the original RE070's on my 05 STI and i've just hit 13,000 miles. The outer edge is getting very low and have about 2mm left until i hit the limit so i would say about another 1000 miles and i'll have to fork out £110.00 per corner!!!!

That's exactly what mine got like. Change them ASAP IMHO.

Also look at Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetricals (I paid £100 a corner) as a replacement to the RE070s. Much better all around tyre.

The RE070's on mine are fairly low on the back but like new on the front, only bought the car 4 weeks ago so don't know if all 4 were replaced at the same time but I suspect not. Would you recommend rotating them?

I believe the fronts take the most abuse on an Impreza, so no. Personally, I would replace them. Unless it is a puncture I would always replace all 4 when ever possible and 2 at the least on an AWD car.

2 years each out of mine - about 22,000 miles, but I always renew well before the 2mm limit.

Sensible: Grip and traction decline significantly well before you get to the legal limit. All the AWD and fancy diffs in the world won't amount to much if the contact patches with the surface of the road are compromised

About 10-12k max I would think for me, Parada Spec 2 but maybe less. They seem soft.
The Toyos on it when I bought i were on for 3 years (14k).

My old Fiesta RST went through a set of Proxes in 1500miles. Managed to eek 3000 out of a set of F1's on that thing.

Cheers

Dont get people with cars this fun that dont drive them?

If your getting more than 10000 out of a set of tyres you dont deserve a fast car IMHO.

If I got 10,000 out of a set of tyres, I'd be changing them every 4 months and on Mr Goodyears private Christmas party list .

20-25000 of a set of rotated F1/F1A, with a complete mix of road types, including the good ones in Wales

I get 25000 out of mine.

Some can drive some cannot, owning a fast car does not mean you turn into a prize plonker driving like your rear end is on fire.

Worst I ever had was a set of Bridgestone S0-3s which lasted 5000 miles(enjoyable miles that is).

my rears take more abuse mate! It seems they are too far gone to swap now but generally if all 4 are changed together then every few months it's got to be worth a quick front/back swap.

toyo proxes lasted me 7000 and that was under normal driving, nothing too hard
trouble is i mainly use backlanes on my commute to work and they recently redid all the surface on them but not with tarmac just the old tar and stonechippings so its a tyre killer really, and i cant be bothered to drive the other way as it adds 10 mins each way to my 25 minutes each way journey to work

I'd be devastated if I only got 7K like some of you boys. I could not afford to keep changing them!!

Mine last about 3 years but I only do approx 6k a year average.
