Default Think I got a bargain...

Just bought a UK 51 plate Impreza WRX. FSSH with 48k miles, Tax and Mot, standard except for 18" alloys with nearly new tyres. Excellent bodywork and immaculate interior. Paid 4 and a half for it. What do people think?

Right now, watching the Police program on BBC1 ... the WPC has just said that there are no bargains in the Motor Trade ... just as you posted!!

I certainly hope you have checked everything on it!!

I let my 52-plate WRX go for £5200. FSSH, tints, afterburner vortex, tein springs etc etc
so there are bargains to be had. Though, mine was sold to my mate.

After watching the BBC cops cars and criminals. Check to see if its not a Clone.

They said there is no such thing as a bargain in the car buying game. But people will still take chances as they can never resist a bargain.

Could be someone wanting rid before the possible car tax hike on 2001 onwards cars. I believe it would be £300 for a WRX if it goes ahead. (That and the fuel costs, of course!)

I think powerful cars of that sort of age will plummet in value if the tax goes up to £440.

Price sounds about right to me, low mileage becomes less of an issue with cars that age. In fact it's often a sign that it's had a harder life, lots of short runs to the shops / work and not much motorway mileage.

You'd be waiting a long time to sell if it was on for 5k so perhaps they just wanted a quick sale.

£200 is not a lot extra when you take into consideration the silly fuel economy and parts cost. Anyone that's put off by the road tax rise probably can't afford to run one anyway

Extra for everything on Impreza ownership soon adds up and starts to p1ss you off. I for one wouldn't pay £270 extrathan a classic just for tax.

i guess it could also be a matter of principle as well as cost, although its not a lot in comparison to the premium we pay on almost everything else with a subaru tag...wouldn't swap my classic for a newage so a bit of a moot point for me

I dont think the fact the bugeye was ugly and slower helps with resale values much.

With the prices the way they are now, people can either spend a bit more and get the newer shape, or spend the same and get a really nice low mileage classic, which is quicker and much better loooking.

If you got the car you wanted at the price you wanted Good luck with it. I think there will be more bargains to be had as people start to feel the pinch.
