yes it can be remapped using EcuTek.. the place you took it too must have been using opensource software.

Simon, why should that matter? The guy only wants his ECU remapped with a map specific for his car?

So having your ECU mapped with Ecutek permanently locks the ECU?

I was answering this specific question
got 55 plate sti its had the ppp fitted to it can it be remapped? just that i took it to a tuner and he said he carnt remap it said carnt get the software or licence something like that!
you seem to have a chip on your shoulder.. to my knowledge there are two tuners using the non-ecutek software within the uk and are trust worthy (you being one of them), and a number of non-trustworthy tuners using it, if someone doesn't pay for an ecutek licenced remap the first time you could argue they are locked into non-ecutek software as the cost to get it mapped elsewhere + the first remap exceeds two ecutek remaps, of which there are lots of dealers.
I was purely answering the original question.

Certainly no chip here Simon, merely asking for clarification from an official source.

I was looking to purchase a Subaru that had been mapped with Ecutek, the owner asked for the ECU to be reverted back to standard by the agent that mapped it so I could have a tinker. He was told that I may not be able to then map it as my software would not give me access.

This leads me to believe that although the standard map can be reflashed with Ecutek the lock, to those outside of Ecutek, cannot be removed.

If someone now pays for a PPP then decides they want to tune their car further with me, where does this leave them
