4x Kumho 712 225/40/18 Tyres

i have found some on fleabay for £215 including shipping.

But a local tyre place have said that they are budget (which they are bound to do )

Has anyone used these or similar.

I have seen people running Kumho slicks so i would have thought that they are a fairly decent tyre maufacturer ??

I am one for bargains .... but I wouldn't fit Kumho's .... I fit Falken's and find that they are a fantastic mix of grip, long life and value for money. FK452's from memory, about £60 a corner fitted.

 

One area I'd never skimp. Tyres.

You get what you pay for, and considering the only thing that keeps you sticky side down is the tyres. The better they are, the better IMO. What ever the cost.

 

It's also an item where you are in risk of paying for a name.

Falkens are highly rated, but unfashionable ..... follow fashion and pay through the nose - go your own way (within reason) and save a packet.

 

kumho are ok but very soft . not ideal for hard driving either

falken are a harder tyre and slightly better imo so id go with them

 

had Kumho Ecsta's now have Falkens (452)

Kumho not bad but i had issues with the sidewall spliting out. The Falkens are a lot better for peanuts more so would go with them

Brand names and fashion victims are the pitfalls of tyre buying and no you don't get what you pay for - more expensive does not equal better. You need to find the tyre that suits you and your driving

FALKENS 452S All the way had four fitted on sat for £254.00 , and i wouldnt look back they are great in the dry and wet and have reduced road noise in my wagon. they are great and don't look bad either .

£58 a corner at the moment. Have used them on my last two Scoob's found them to be very good.

Kumho is now used by many main stream car makers, VW for one so don't knock them just yet!

 

My Mrs is running Khumos on her Ra and they are very very good, even to the point i would compare them with my Toyos.

Not had any issues with the sidewalls giving out and they have taken some abuse and they seem to last well too, she uses her car everyday and goes the fun way to everywhere !!!!


I would give them a go as i cant fault them and im hard on all my tyres/brakes etc

We use Kumho on Golfs now, standard VW issue.

 

Kumhos are fine, had some for over a year with no issues.

 

i have ordered some Falkens now after all of the satisified customers on here, so here goes, time to test them myself

Falkens everytime ..... second only to Michellin in life.

 

Another vote for Falkens, I had them after a set of Yokohama's and rated them as a better all round tyre.

They'll be my next tyre after I wear out the ones that came with the car.

 

Marshall's Tyres are very good.

They are part of the same Group as Khumos.

Matrix Racing Tyres.

17" £86 a tyre fitted with Balancing new valves etc.


Got 23,000 plus miles pout of a set of 4.

my bro just got the falkens and he got them delivered for £205 205/45/17
local kwik fit charged £7.50 each for fitting valve and balancing
thought about the budget route but in all hinesty if u look in the right places u can get decent tyres about the same price!

 

I would vote for Toyos (but were i work is one of the main suppliers in the northwest for them) as they are voted behind the Michellin in the dry but voted best in the wet an they are quite cheap to buy, im running Kumhos now an find that the grip is not that good in the wet compaired to the toyos on my nissan pulsar

 

TOYO's in my experience are great for grip - but terrible for life ... and I am very gentle with my driving!

 

Falken 452's fitted and are just about to be renewed, can't fault them for the price £65 fitted for 225/40/18's

Have been told to try the Kumho's motorsport tyre v70a for about £130 a corner.

Lewis Hamilton did well with them kumho in F3....or was it the driver !

In regards to the Falken's there is the new 912's out. I got soem fitted to my sisters LCR a couple of weeks ago. Very grippy etc.

225/40 18 for £350 fitted etc including a spare.

I'm thinking about getting a set myself when my YOKO Parada's are due to be changed.

Main issues will be wet grip - especially when cold.

Thing is you don't how good the car will perform in the wet and cold until you have a decent tyre fitted. And that unfortunatly, means spending money....

 

anyone tried avon ZZ3 yet if so what you think as think these may be my next set.

 

I needed new tyres, rang a place local to me and asked about the ZZ3's.
When he found out it was for an STI he told me he didn't recommend fitting them to that type of car.

Said they were an OK tyre, but wouldn't be happy with that fitment.

 

Performance car, performance tyres, budget tyres are for slow cars or slow drivers. Then you wouldnt need an STI.

 

ALOT better than the ZZ1 "ditch finders" they replaced

But they should be found at roughly the same price as Conti-Sport contact 3s which IMO are a better tyre. As are Yokohama Parada spec 2s (probably on par with ZZ3s in the wet).

I had both Falkerns and Khumos on my old Clio and would NEVER buy them again.

 

my new wheels came with a set of marshalls fitted and i was pleasantly surprised to be honest

 

Have had a set of khumo's and a set of falkens on other cars, would happily fit either to my Scooby. Currently running verdststiens (i think thats the spelling).
