A Budgie is probably the easiest and cheapest way.

no dump valve.. the noise is the compressor stalling etc.. depending on your turbo it may not be wise though

im running a td05/06 20g hybrid
have blanked off the dump valve not really put any boost through it yet though as need to get the autronic mapped.

Maybe once i can get the boost turned up i will get the "chirp" noise

Is this ok to do on the td05/06 20g?

20g will be fine, Mitsi turbos are pretty damn hardy.

You'll need at least 1.6 bar for a proper high pitched chirp

as above no dump valve, could damage turbo, break shaft if you get a back fire or something.

20g he is running won't be damaged

back fire is on the exhaust side and make no difference whether running a dv or not.

any damage on a weaker turbo like a vf28 for example would be blades on cold side snapping off or more likely the bearings failing
