Has anyone managed to get a discount of the retail price on a STi 08 ?

They don't seem to want to move, or is it just my local dealers ?

Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

I'd be VERY surprised if you got a discount on an STi type UK to be honest - not yet anyway.If you believe the dealers (which i don't ) they are in short supply at the moment.

Give it 12 months and things will be different or better still try and get your hands on a low mileage ex-demo in a couple of months.

Obviously another option would be to get a european import which are cheaper.

 

Hmmmm, thats what I was afraid I'd hear.

Did anyone who's bought one manage to squeeze anything out of their dealer ?

I managed a set of STi carpet mats!
...well - it's better than nothing!

 

They are already about £3-£4K cheaper than the outgoing STI, what more do you want

 

Dealer: what will it take for me to put you in this car today?
buyer: oh lets see how about a nice discount on the price, full leather, and PPP?
Dealer: not a chance hahaha

 

There's already a face lift planned fin japan for september so your best of waiting till then.

I agree tbh i think it's the rear that's been changed and the front.

 

Having just placed an order for a new STi (pick up on Saturday!) all this talk of a facelift is a bit depressing!

Hope it's true... if they sort the back out it may not be so bad.

Before you go piling into an import take a look at the recent thread where a chap trying to trade in his 06 STI import is getting slaughtered by the dealers. You might save a little bit now, but when you come to change you could well find that most dealers won't take it in part-ex and those who will offer you so little you'll feel sick. That leaves you with selling privately which is always a lottery.

If this brand new car is facelifted after less than a year then Subaru are finished. Without wishing to sound rude I would ignore the facelift comments unless they are backed up with hard evidence. Ring around loads of dealers towards the end of the month when their sales totals are added up and see what you can grind out. You should be pleased there are no discounts as you'll have a car that is worth more than f*ck all when you come to sell it.

 

I've bought into the 08 STI being fully happy with a yearly tweak of the lights etc., it's what Subaru have done for years so I don't see much reason for that to change or cause concern. Ideally they'll tweak the rear lights within the current fittings so I can retro fit if they look better, although they have grown on me.

I'm also fully bought into the fact that the residuals won't be great, this is a heart purchase not a head. Whether the residuals on a parallel import will be worse than UK models not sure, I'd have only thought this would be the case if you want to trade the car in at a UK dealer at some point in the future, selling privately shouldn't affect it much?

Anyway, forget discounts, get the thing bought. I'm fours days into mine and loving every minute of it. I was thinking this morning how much better the interior ergonomics are compared to my old bug eye, more space, better layout, sound system better... never mind driving it.

The sun is shining and in WR Blue with gold wheels it's looking stunning on the works car park... might nip out and have another look at it

 

I got a decent discount and a fantastic trade in price on my 03 STi. They also swapped out the standard crappy sat nav and fitted a top spec Pioneer HDD sat nav at no cost. Full tank of fuel and STI carpet mats (also std carpet mats until the STI ones were delivered!).

It helps to be on first name terms with the dealer

 

Even drivethedeal.com could only get £300 discount from the STi! It lists around £2000 off of a normal WRX.

Drive the deal are offering 1800 off the WRX and only 350 off the STi.

I got a Pioneer AVIC-HD3BT...




Very impressed with it so far! Very accurate positioning even without GPS. Was spot on even through the 14km Arlberg tunnel in Austria!!! Also has a great triple meter display that shows your GPS speed, and two other selectable items such as acceleration, lateral acceleration, inclination, rotational velocity, compass, clock, etc. There is also 10GB on the HDD reserved for music which is automatically ripped from a CD when you insert it! I also have an optional USB controller in the glove box where you can connect a memory stick or portable HDD loaded with music
