Default Loss of power when hot and under load

I'v got a 1996 black wrx scoobie, its was running very sweet untill about 2 months ago when as if over night it started, when the engine is hot i start to drive its fine untill the boost kicks in and it starts to lose power on acceleration but only for a few seconds then all power comes back it will do this repetedly like its kangarooing effect. the problem gets worse the more i drive untill i stop turn the engine off and leave it for a bit to cool down then its back to running sweet as a nut untill its hot again. iv had a diagnostics test and nothing showed up also had a mechanic look at it and he says it electrical. Please help if and one has had the same problem. thanks Mark.

hi mate i've got the exact same problem and it's really pissing me off, already tried the items below:

Boost solenoid= twice
lambda sensor= twice
Maf sensor=twice
OE dump valve
All new boost pipes
Restrictor pill in the boost pipe
changed throttle body gasket
Idle air contol valve
Changed from prodrive ecu back to original ecu

So tomorrow the inlet manifold is coming of to check for leaks in the breather hoses and also change the coolant temp sensor, replace the manifold gaskets and change the turbo solenoid valve.

good job i know a very nice subaru mechanic

i will keep you posted and come on you scoobynet peeps help us out Pretty please.

how much boost at wide open throttle is your turbo kickin out?

It could be fuel cutting at full boost in top gear?
i have a similar fault which i aim to rectify with a new boost controller.
My boost is showing 25psi!! EEK!

1.5 bar when the problem occurs and 1.2 bar when running fine.

I've just had a nightmare with my bugeye trying to find something similiar.. I THINK i have found it... I noticed the actuator was very motchy when moving the arm.. I have applied liberal penetrating oil and seems fine.. for now!!

I used to get overboost on track days when the engine was really hot.. when cooled it was fine.. on a long journey the other day it just started doing it all the time.. when cold seemed fine until the engine had warmed up... jsut check this in case...

That does sound like coilpacks to me.
I have exactly the same thing and am upgrading my plugs and am having coilpacks fitted Monday.

The cause of mine was a split in one of the inlet manifold gaskets, so i'm over the moon i've finally sorted it.
