Hi all,

What kind of mpg do you all get out of your blobeye sti typeuk's??

Considering getting one, just struggling to find the stats. I do a 70 mile commute to work and back everyday, but I miss the Impreza so I might be tempted to get another

Any replies would be mucho appreciated...

 

I get between 23 and 25 mpg from my 05STI with PPP , thats on mainly B roads ,30 mile per day commute to station , a mixture of steady driving and a bit of welly when the road permits . Hope this helps

I do a 70 mile commute every day in mine. I get around 270 miles to a tankful, thats mostly motorway cruising. If I drive off boost i've seen upto 300 miles. The mpg isn't as bad as a lot of people make out unless you've got a heavy right foot

ive got a blobeye on a 55 plate . i only drive it on weekends if its DRY only done 2,300 miles in a year by a banger for work so when you drive the scoob you will fall in love with it all over again and dont care about m .p .g

 

I used to get 220 miles per 50L of VPower out of a standard 04 STi

Then it jumped to 250 when at 330bhp, now at a healthy 260-270 average.

At 70 miles per day, you'll be spending around £75 a week on fuel for your commute. Time to get a diesel for the commute. That's what i do as i've got 100 mile commute, then bring in the STi occassionally.

 

Costs me about 70quid a week. Thats using Vpower

 

I get around 200-230 miles from a full tank in mine, works out around 20 MPG. A lot less if it gets thrashed

I have a new astra SRi CDTi at the minute and that costs me over £50 a week in diesel but its just too small for me, I miss the Impreza, and I've always loved the blob eyes, so it sounds as though it could be time for me to chop in the astra as thats worth 11.5k and invest in a blob eye

 

So you would probably double the fuel/insurance/road tax cost

Is it the 150bhp CDTi you have? What are they like to drive?, was looking at one a few weeks ago due to the ridiculous cost of fuel

 

19mpg for me around town STI PPP. Managed 26mpg on a trip down to cornwall.

Youd be filling up twice a week at 70 miles per day

 

My 05 STI PPP does around 220 miles to a tank, and that's not driving it especially hard.

 

I've done 310 miles on a tank. That was 270 miles to Devon then the rest pottering around. (340 bhp remapped STI)
Generally around 210-250 per tank.

 

I must have a heavy right foot coz I get about 180 miles to a tank on average, that drops to 140 if I am having some fun

Although, thinking it about that is mostly short journeys.

i do 60miles a day, fill up every 4 days, with the petrol light on for the last 15 or so miles.

 

I drove from Portsmouth to Basingstoke every day for 3 months ( 90 mile round trip ).. after 2 months i had to get rid of my 03STI .. Normal driving was still meaning about a tank every 3-4days.. And 2k going on the clock each month..

Not really the car for a daily long commute less your loaded tbh :P

 

if your asking those types of questions with the way car tax is going and the price of fuel,also with all the add on costs of running an sti its not the car for you imho but if you do get one it i'll put a smile on your face every time you turn the key

scooby,dlm... money isnt the issue, i can more than afford to run the scooby daily, i was just curious as to the mpg as ive never owned a newage before. last year i had a 330bhp classic and that cost circa £100 a week to run oh vpower.

i should be more worried about the mileage id be tallying up but the way i see it is, your only young once, your only on this planet once, i love the new age imprezas, every other car i seem to try just isnt like the scoobs and i just end up wanting one more i think there very comfortable too being 6'4!!

Norman Dog... thats a tuffy! the CDTi astras are good and bad. there a stylish fantasic looking car, there faily pokey power wise, but its diesel, its boring, your forever getting caught out of power, youve got to wait and wait for the power to build and the power band throw in every gear is very short imho. i get aroun 42 mpg and thats on a long motorway run too.

the main issue i have is there very small inside, being 6'4 im virtually laid on the back seat and to be honest the car hurts my back / neck alota lot.

handling wise, there a light car, the front end is all over the place, if your hoofing it a bit on country'ish roads, its an involved drive simply to keep it on the road lol!! but it is a vauxhall, it drives like one, and feels like one.

dont get me wrong a lovely car, but as a second car to say an impreza! i just end up trying to drive mine like one which it basically isnt! they do look very very very good though

 

He's bang on, that's what I do. I have a 7 year old Saxo VTS for work with over 103k on it and its never let me down. I drive the MY05 STI PPP and Integra DC2 ITR on the weekends in the dry only. Only done 5K in two years in the STI but I love it to bits

 

Same here. I have a 99 Fiat Punto Sporting for work, though I take the STI occasionally if the weather's good. It really makes me appreciate the Scoob all over again each time I get in it! I must admit with me it's more because I hate it getting dirty than to save money

 

ive just bought a nice little moonstone blue peugeot 206 hdi sport for using to get to work and im going to buy a blobeye sti ppp later this week, cant wait

does anyone have any tips, suggestions, things to look out for when viewing?? Very in-familiar with the newage's for common problems... any help would be mucho appreciated!!

 

I used to get low 20s to the gallon. If asked to I'll bore you with the numbers, but for me the most annoying thing was that if I pootled along I could possibly get high 20s (and what's the point of pootling in an STI?) and if I put my foot down the engine made a noise that suggested that a secondary, ultra-high-load fuel pump was kicking in and you could almost see the fuel gauge moving.

Do you remember the scene from National Lampoons Xmas Vacation where Chevvy Chase turns on his Christmas lights? The load on the national grid was so large that the electricity company had to turn on the back-up nuclear generator and Chevvy's electricity meter started spinning out of control. Well that is the vision I had every time I put my foot down and that ruined the car for me.

Coming from a frugal diesel you are really going to notice filling up virtually twice a week at £60 a pop. Food for thought.

im not fussed at all about mpg on the scoob now, decided against using one for work and invested in the 206 hdi

Terence, you're not a million miles away from me & if looking to buy privately give me a shout as my car could be available. 2005 STi PPP with prodrive springs & only 9k miles, so even if you put 300 miles a week on it it'll take a while to get up to 'average mileage'
