Looking on autotrader online and there seems a few sti's which have 50k going for 10k,

To me thats a lot of car for the money, however the mileage kinda puts me off. I would only be doing 6k or so a year so could i expect many problems with that sort of mileage? or should i spend a little more and get one with less mileage?

I am looking at blob eyes if that helps

 

What year of Blobeye though?
Mines an 04 (Jan) and currently on 48k miles, was 38k when I bought it last May. Average yearly mileage is usually given as 12.5k miles, so in 4 years that would be 50k miles, so mine is slightly under average, but is still a 50k mile Blobeye due to the fact it's my daily driver.
More important than mileage is service history - has it been done regularly and by who, any additional receipts for other work etc.

 

Just nicely run in at 50k.

 

i think service history is most important ,mileage does'nt mean anything these days . infact i think you have more problems with cars out of the showroom with delivery miles

 

Cambelt service should be done at 50k which can be an expensive service. At least my WRX was at 50k so presume Sti the same.

 

Looking at a 03/53 plate car, Says its got f/s/h which i assume is Subaru,

So as long as the service history is tip top then mileage should be much of a problem.

50k miles is nothing on a modern car these days, as others have said as long as the servicing has been done by a reputable garage (preferably subaru) and is up to date then you should have no problems, just make sure its had its 50k mile service which includes the cam belt change, i have a 03 sti ppp and it had its 50k mile service 3 months ago i paid £495 at MGK which is a main subaru dealers so you will need to take this into account if the service needs to be done.

so long as it has got full subaru or subaru specialist service history then not a problem on 50k.
just make sure the 50k belt change service has been done as that can be quite expensive.

i bought my 2004 blob wrx with 56k on the clock about 15 months ago and had no problems as said just nicely run in.

 

How much is the road tax? Surely it can't be anymore than the £210 that Mr Darling has set (£5 increase from £205)? Even though it is a Band "G", the tax will NOT be £400 as far as I am aware as it was registered before some month in 2006.

I am also looking at a MY55 STi, and have been promised by the dealer that the tax is and will be £210, not £400 as a lot of people suspect.

Anyone confirm this with me? Obviously the MY 55 was registered before 2006! Is the dealer telling a "white" lie so that I buy it or will the tax be £200 as opposed to the £400?

50k cambelt and 60k plugs, tranmission oil, diff oil etc and costs as much if not more.

£210 this year but £300 next i think

Well according to Parkers if the car is registered after the 1st of Jan 03 it would be £440 next March

 

I would get one thats had the timing belt done, bought my 04sti black 3 months back for 12k at 44000, just got the timing belt,tensioners and bearings done yesterday as the bearings were squaeling like mad, very costly!
