Driving home last night I went to flick a cigerette out of my window which I did succesfully but unfortunatly the end was knocked
off by the window.
As I was on the motorway there was little I could do and on close inpection at the next exit, I found a finger nail sized burn on my back seat.
I have a UK300, so the seats are bright blue and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Anyone got any suggestions to the best way of getting it repaired.

Another lesson learned!!

Always wind the window down, then extend your arm fully out of the car before flicking - cab be bad in the wind/rain/snow but avoids the burns.

Not much help to you now though

Try Halfords - I have seen ads before for stuff like this. There are also specialist companies that will sort it.

The RAC offer a service (through Chips Away) for repairs like this. Check out their website for mroe info.

 

Shouldnt you deposit old cigarettes in the ashtray? Will save your seats and anybody elses car that you happen to flick it against.

Can you also pay for my bike leathers to be reapired and paintwork on my bike to be repaired as it is selfish d1ckheads like you that cause the accidents.
You have an ash tray if you must smoke then use it!
No I am not some prat getting on my high horse but you try riding a bike and have a burning cig land in your lap, hit your jacket, hit your visor, land on the front of the bike... then you'd realise what a to55er you are being..

I managed to flick a ciggie out of the window, only to feel a burning on my shoulder! Burnt a 1cm hole in the seat and a nice hole in a brand new Lewins shirt. Luckily my suit jacket was on the back seat..

It's the first thing you see when you look into the car from the drivers side - looks really awful.

AND I'VE BL@@DY WELL GIVEN UP SMOKING SINCE NEW YEAR ANYWAY.

(Edited to say - hadn't ever thought of ciggie butts hitting motor cyclists before - shame I've stopped smoking )

Who's going to want to buy a smelly car that somebody has smoked in anyway? I really can't believe you would spend £30K on a car and then make it smell like an old ashtray.

 

As a biker I get very pissed off when this happens - but I find landing your boot in their door helps to keep one calm.

 

Yes or breaking their wing mirror... by accident of course..
throttle seems to stick open just after this though...

 

JGM - Maybe that is something they should cover in the test. You wouldn't believe how often I've misjudged a space and taken someones wingmirror off with my boot. Seems to only happen after they try to kill me though - not for a cig butt

I'm a smoker who throws the butts out of the window (but I actually use my mirrors and make sure it doesn't hit anyone ). I chuck them because a full ashtray makes the car smell even more. And it's always a pain emptying it as well (I won't just empty on the road like some). As for having a £30k motor, mine's a 93 WRX so it's worth about 50p...

In answer to the original question, how about making more burns to make a fetching and symetrical pattern...

Smoking is an unpleasant habit, makes the car smell and burns seats and bikers, true. But it's up to an individual if they choose to smoke on their own in their own car.

I'll bet some of you self-righteous (ex?!) smokers have some seriously dodgy habits (no monks jokes, please) you'd care not to admit to, not the least including serious tuning obsessions that are far more expensive and have a higher likelihood of ruining your Subaru, poisoning the atmosphere and killing yourselves and other road users. Hehehe!

 

I only came on here for some help and advise, which I got mainly but then I've also got grief from w4nker road rats.
No doubt they've all got brightly coloured bikes with soppy matching leathers.
Anyone would think bikers never do anything wrong!!!
Until you can say that you have never p1ssed another road user off or broken the law etc.... then **** off and leave me alone to sort out my particular problem with like minded, smoking, car lovers.

Are we talking about the Weekend Warriors? The type who pass their DAS and go out and buy a Yamaha R1 or GSXR 1000 that they have no hope of being able to handle? They then go out and buy all the gear and the matching "Power Ranger" leathers?

See them at Boxhill every Sunday doing wheelies and burnouts and generally making a nuiscence of themselves.

 

I hate it when people flick their *** butts out of car windows. Who is supposed to clear them up? Take them home and throw them in the bin. It's disgusting.
I just hope the car driving in front of you flicks a *** butt out and it goes into your bonnet scoop.

don't own a bike, and mountain bike gathering dust. Still don't approve of in car smoking, and hate car in front throwing *** end out window, or any other litter for that matter.

Anyway just to show I'm not completely up me own a**e, I had a *** burn on the back seat of my first car. Haven't been inside a UK300, but is there any excess material under the seat? I managed to get a scrap from under one of the seats and patched it using that. Not perfect, but much less noticeable. Another one of these "worth trying..." before you fork out for someone to look at it.

Actually throwing a lit cigarette out of a window could be consituted as illegal... driving without undue care and attention - according to a friend of mine in traffic.

I ride a motorbike (well when it gets serviced) and have scoob.

It is not funny getting hit in the visor when a glowing cigarette hit you in the face. The visor was down but the 70mph impact is more than a little unnerving.

I am in no way having a go at anyone. I used to smoke and once or twice in the car with all the windows down, while stationary in a traffic jam. I never flicked the but while driving because I realised how much of an effect it has on the rider behind.

I smoke but there is no way in the world I would smoke in my RB5. The smell in the car and the risk of burns. Good luck though with the fix.

 

The world is a smoker's ashtray.....

 

So we've covered seat repair from burns...

... also how naughty people are for dumping their *** ends out their windows...

... also how this effects bikers and the like...

... also how some bikers/car drivers are dangerous...



... how about movin' on to, if the biker wasn't so blinkin' close he wouldn't get hit in helmet with *** end? Stop slip streaming!
