Hey all,

I do so many motormay miles in my car - 144 a day - the services come round quick and Im now at 90,000.

The car is still great, I had the 90,000 service done at 83,000 to be safe.

Just wondering if I should be looking out for anything in particular with all the mway miles I'm clocking up?

I still do give it beans on the b-roads regularly, but its all the mway miles I am wondering about.

Motorway miles are better for your car as long as its not all stop start.
You get less wear on items like the clutch, gearbox and the engine is running more efficiently with better lubrication than if you did 5 miles each way in slow moving traffic in the morning.
Cons are that you have high miles, people dont understand that modern engines can easily do 300k miles, diesels even more, wear and tear items are about the only thing to worry about (bushes, brake discs and pads etc) but generally just good regular servicing with good oils and lubricants will keep your car up to scratch

If you have an agressive geometry it can be bad for your tyre wear.

My geometry is standard (standard uk turbo)- so that should be ok.

I just worry that my car will be worn out in a year!

 

Don't worry. As said earlier, keep the services going and she'll treat you right.

I remember (just about!) 10 years ago when i had my classic and the cars were quite rare. There was a magazine article, "Life in a subaru after 100k miles". They said the car was great, felt loosened up, no problems and was even better.

ryo i wouldnt worry too much.

my 99 classic i believe was a company/lease car when she started her life. infact she did 22k miles in her first 9 months

but has been serviced meticulously and i have plenty of service history. cars currently on 135k miles now. second engine as a failed oil pump at 70k on a previous owner killed the first one. original gearbox has only just gone too, so not a bad life for a performance car really.

i put on about 14k miles last year and will keep her another 2-3 years until shes worth next to nothing.

 

I always put 150K on all my motors very quickly and have never had any major mechanical item - turbo, clutch, engine or gearbox - in 1.5 million miles. Drive it, enjoy it, service it, drive it enjoy it . . . . !

My old Scoob Sport (MY99) did 125k miles in 30 months, went thru the first clutch in 30k miles, the 2nd clutch lasted another 95k, but I put that down to having to go thru Brum and back every day for a while, so it did cause excessive wear, but I only had two sets of tyres in all those miles

Other than that regular services and not a single thing went wrong

My own Scoob Turbo has seen about 75k motorway miles, and still runs fine, however I have a fast road setup on it and hence get a lot of outside wear on the tyres, so it really needs changing back to standard as the tyres arent lasting at all anywhere near what they should

 

I drive about 200 mainly motorway miles a day in my car. Just hit 78,000 miles. When I bought the car in 2006 it had done 32,000 miles.

As far as I'm concerned it's the best kind of mileage you can do in a car. Little stress on the car as you cruise along. Engine has never missed a beat in all these miles.
