Default Flooded spare wheel well!!! AAAGGGHHH

Hello peeps,

This weather is doing my nut in and Its also doing my cars nut in too!!!

Dont know where from, but the spare wheel well on my 94 classic wrx wagon keeps filling up with water also the gulley on the left hand side where the standard fit jack goes.

I keep sucking up the water with a sponge and trying to see where its coming from, I've removed and refitted the l/h light cluster, seal seems a bit dodgy but not bad enough to warrent a full SWW every 24 hrs.

I get this on my 93wrx saloon (just the spare wheel bit) nd found that it depends on which way the wind/rain is blowing i've lookd at the seals around the lights and rear wiper and cannot find any thing.
So I'm just going to reseal the lights and see if that cures it.

Yep most likely coming in around the lights. Remove and re-seal should do the trick.

I had the LHS jack storage thingy filling up and it turned out to be a split plastic vent that sits in the panel behind the bumper. If you pull the inner trim away you should be able to see it. Also there is a rubber bung in the bottom of this (may be covered in aquaseal - mine was) makes it easier for draining the water. This was on a saloon but i thik they are the same. Also had the spoiler holes leaking which affected the boot area. Glad to be rid of that heap.

Hope this helps
Andy.

Mine filled up, it was getting in through the lights as I didnt re-seal them when I fitted the STi ones. Took them off and put sealant on and its been ok since.

I used some black mastic type window seal on mine. Picked up from the hardware store.

another thing to check is the seal around the small window. Mine was leaking in from there. I just lived with a towel in the jack space for a while and then on a hot day, removed all of the boot trim and got my mate to hold a hose to it. Soon spotted it!!!

Tracking leaks in the wagons is a real PITA!!

mine was leaking like a sieve, sealed up the lights a couple of time with silicone sealant to no avail, finally used gutter sealant, which doesn't go hard & hey presto, no more leak!

The water is definatly coming in from the rear l/h light as I removed all of the trim to see where it could be coming from then I had to pop out in her while it was raining and then I heard something strange, turned around and there was water pissin in from the top of the light.
I'm off to the in-laws tomoz and I'll be going up to the barn to get that fixed as well as fit my window tints and make a shield for my induction kit!!!

Busy day me thinks!!!

Just sorted mine out, was leaking in from the spoiler holes on the n/s and from the top of the n/s light, used silicone with no problems.

mine was the same, like swimming pool in the boot.
i took the easy way out.
i got a big drill and put 3 holes at the bottom of the well.
hey presto comes in ansd straight out.
but id say its a short term solution

Put my STI lights on at Christmas and have had no leaks. Someone on here recommended using IDL Mastic Sealant, which I ordered off ebay. It doesn't cure in the same way as Silicon does and remians flexible so the lights would come out reasonably easy if I need to swap back
