Does anyone know what BHP is given by the WR Prodrive Silencer on a MY02 WRX as I need to tell my insurance company.

Between 5-7 Bhp i believe, dont think insurance will be that bothered by such a small increase.

On a MY02 (new shape) the BHP increase would be close to zero. See http://www.autospeed.com/A_1054/page1.html for why this is.

Thats a very interesting write-up Theo, especially as it contradicts everything we;ve seen on rolling roads here after scoobysport full exhausts have been fitted to WRX's...ie significant peak power gains (250bhp?). I wonder if someones fiddlin figures to sell ECU's?

Chuck ... I wish it was that easy.

I could back up what they are writing, but don't particularly want to get involved in a slaggin' match.

Note that I also don't work or favor any type of upgrade ... I'm clean in that department m8

One thought that does spring to mind Chuck is that they are talking about the "quiet" APS *with* Cat. All the power hikes that we have seen running Scoobysport systems and the like are a) quite noisy and b) cat less......

Getting back to the original point....

I have a WR Sport BB on my '00, and I was quoted 5-7bhp as Zippy says, but it also seems to pull better from low revs, and of course it sounds better!

You DEFINITELY need to tell your insurers though!!!

Cheers

this test is shows that just after the zorst was installed peak power was unchanged, but when we installed our centre pipe power gaines were not seen for a good few miles as the ecu had to 'learn' the new settings.
surly it would have been better to reset the ecu and run the car for a while to work out the true power gains?

McBrun555,

I'm guessing you've got a <MY01? I say this because the MY01 dynamically changes the advance which means fairly instant results when these kinds of changes are made.

The MY99-00 seems to take a few miles to change and the <MY98 (or is it 97) basically needs an ECU reset to make the same changes.

Therefore, on the car APS were testing, they shouldn't need to do a reset.

If the MY02 standard BB is the same as the MY01 then switching to the WR Sport should make some difference. The WR Sport BB rmoved the two 90 bends going into the stradard there releasing the aiflow a bit more.

I would have thought this would have given a small increase, I certainly noticed the better sound after the switch.

It is more open but not quite as open as other after market systems!
