there is no good one/ bad one, if you got a good one of this model its far better than a bad one of a different model

It most definately is NOT a version 3 Imprezza.
Ver 3 is not individual coil on plug.
Ver 3 turbo inlet is from the front under the inlet tract.

NIKAO : I can see why you are confused. There are PHASES and there are VERSIONS> (VER)

OK so phase 1 is M/Y 93-96. Your car is phase 1. It has a coil pack on each plug and air entry to the turbo is from the side and the turbo has a 90 deg bend on the front of the compressor cover.
Now phase 1 cars come in version 1 and version 2 ver1 M/Y 93-94 and ver 2 95 and 96.
Then we have phase 1.5 This is M/Y 97 and 98 Generally M/Y 97 is ver 3 and M/Y98 is ver 4. These cars have front entry turbos with air entry under the inlet manifold from the front and a single coil pack with four plug leads. Coil pack is located on the centre front of the inlet manifold just behind the alternator.
Then we have phase 2. M/Y99 is ver 5 and M/Y00 is ver 6. Very similar to the phase 1.5 but now the single coil pack is on the front of the manifold but off set to the passenge side.

I hope this helps you.

Dont be like that, on the open road there will be no differance in the performance of the 240ps wrx and the 260ps wrx.
240ps is a lot of power for a car that only weighs 1270kg. Its all pub talk anyway!
Anyway you can soon cure the "lack" of power with a decat and a scoobyecu.
