I watched a bit of Jools Holland New year Party show on NY eve. Bit ticked off to read today that it was recorded on the 20th December! I thought there was something odd about the programme. Won't be watching it ever again if I'm forced to stay in for an early to work on NY's day.

I admit I don't like the bloke. The show from what I did see was quite crap, the highlight seemed to be a hillbilly with a 2 stringed guitar. Fireworks on three were much better, and not filmed 11 days earlier.
Its a shame that it was recorded though I didnt notice as most of the rest of the drunken dozy public didnt, however the Hillbilly was a revelation, very rarely does an act capture my imagination like that, even my brother who is a guitar snob/musician/geek rates him, pure quality.

have to agree with varboy! however, we did watch some of it and mrs g said, oh look there's dr who - he';s had a busy day-he was at billie piper's wedding earlier...
I read an interview with some comedian who said he was at last years and got home in time to see in the new year watching himself in the audience. Filmed on the day somehow seems a bit more acceptable than 11 days prior, but it did explode a little myth I suppose. I still love the show as being one of the few places on TV where real bands, with real musicians, playing real instruments and usually playing original material get a chance to shine. As $h!te like X-Factor and video chart rundowns dominate terrestrial TV, and MTV and others seem to just have reality teen b0110x fly-on-the-wall nonesence, where else can you see talent (and I do mean musical talent, not Girls Aloud
). This years line-up wasn't as good as last year, and for me that stupid mockney moaner Kate Nash spoilt it. Kate Rusby singing Fare Thee Well with the Royal Scots Guards last year fair brought a tear to my eye, and the 'Hillbilly' Seasick Steve was again the star of the show. I'll still watch it every year for as long as it lasts, and would love some tickets. Let's face it, two NYE parties is better than one

From: It's like finding a cocktail sausage, when what you really wanted was a rather large saveloy.
I clicked over just in time Kylie and McCartney singing his tune.. thought it sounded terrible..
I don't like Jools Holland ( they hired him and his band for entertainment at a work party once) and he reminds me of the bloke out of the candy store in the ***** Wonka film(original) all smarmy and greasy.. yuk
