My MY00 Turbo has recently started missing, normally at around 3000 revs. I've not had chance to get it into a dealer yet. It seems to run ok higher up the rev range

The car is standard apart from a Prodrive P1 backbox and has done 16000 miles.

Initially I thought it might be dodgy petrol but its been doing it for about 1000 miles now.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Ian.

Ditto. Part of the hesitation factor I believe although some sensors may be involved. I'm far from mechanical but this has been covered before. Try the search facility if it still works.

Thanks for the replies - the search facility is not working unfortunately.

The car has been missing quite badly as opposed to just hesitating. I'm not 100% sure yet but it seems to happen when I put Shell Optimax in for some reason??? I've only tried occasional tanks but have run the car this weekend on two tanks of normal unleaded 95 and not had any problems!

Cheers,

Ian.

Babber,

Glad its not just me then!

Has anybody else experienced problems like this with Optimax?

Cheers,

Ian.

Ian E,

When I first got my car (just over a year ago) I ran it on NUL, to save money (lots of motorway driving).

Read on here that SUL made a difference so I started using Esso SUL, and after resetting the ECU was convinced the car was running better, pulling noticeable stronger, etc

Was happy for a few months then Optimax became available in my area. Like a silly turd, I read the raving reports on here, and travelled the 5 miles to the "local garage" Filled up reset the ECU, and WOW, the car was so much faster, or at least that's what I thought.

Whilst all this was going on, sideways bought a MY97, driving mine convinced him he had to get one. After picking the car up, on a private road, we drove flat out, and the cars were identical in acceleration. A good benchmark!!! This was for a number of mine, I couldn't get away from him, and he couldn't catch me up.

Went to Powerstation and they reckoned the car was 208 BHP, LOL I had an ITG and SS BB they must be wrong. It was also running really rich The hesitating started and the car really was running like a bag of ****e (do search on this title) MY00 running like a bag of ****e.

Spent the next couple of weeks back and forward to the dealers, at one point they thought the downpipe cat was fcuked and didn't have any Subaru ones (on back order) Bob Illes, kindly sold me his old SS DP, and had it fitted. Was impressed with the power gains, but still not happy with the car.

Spent many hours posting on here, then Floyd suggested changing the MY00 ECU for a MY99 ECU. Had the standard cat DP put back on. For nearly two months the car has been fantastic.

What I worry about, and I did mention it on here before. Can anyone remember the "super" petrol that Shell brought out, and did damage to Vauxhall engine ???

I know that I'll be staying well clear from Shell garages, and using Esso NUL or SUL. Not sure if this sounds familiar or not?

Cheers Phill

PS Forgot to mention that whilst the car was playing up sideways passed me like I was in a Capri 1.6L. He also drove mine and said it was crap

Babber,

Thanks for the reply - my MY00s not too bad although I must admit its never felt as quick as my old MY97.

I remember the previous Shell special petrol years ago (was it called Formula?) - my Metro 1.0L with go faster stripes didn't run any better on that either (but at least it didn't run worse!)

Anybody else had problems with Optimax?

Cheers,

Ian.
