Don't see what the problem is with teaching the kid to shoot properly. I must admit I have no sound on my computer at the moment but the piccie showed a kid getting taught how to fire properly. Teach them how and the effects if they mess about and, hopefully, they'll be sensible about things.
Not sure what you mean about safety?
As for the shootings, they're not about kids knowing how to shoot - they're about kids being able to get hold of weapons easily and using them when they're a pit hacked off with the world/girlfriend/lack of girlfriend/being short changed at the 7-11 etc . Different argument to being taught how to shoot properly.
A friend of mine got a pump action shotgun at 17 (I was 15/16). We used to go shooting lickle bunnies etc but it never entered our heads to take it to school and blow a few classmates away ....

It sounds as if he is with family as you can hear his dad ,but you can also hear a younger girl giggling and screaming . Also at one point he virtual points the barrel towards himself although the father shouts a warning to him.
I just feel the kid is rather young to be firing a gun of this calibre and power especially with distractions in the background.

I can see what you are saying. There has to be a point where you teach kids about guns if you are going to have them in your family. I know my friends dad did not. He just "locked them up". Kept them out of the way thinking that was the safest thing to do. Then one day I went around to my mates and found myself looking down the wrong end of his semi auto twelve bore
**** me I wish his dad had taught him about gun safety. ![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Clearly there is a point when it is too early, but also there is the point where it is too damn late. Man I needed new trousers.

I think the child in the video didn't have the strength to use the weapon he was using, so shouldn't really be using it until he was a bit older/stronger; and as mentioned, the over-excited child in the background is certainly a distraction that isn't needed when instructing someone how to shoot for possibly the first time, but holding a camera when your supposed to be conducting safety supervision isn't ideal either.
As for teaching a child to shoot in general though - I have no problem with it. From a moral perspective, I think it is a little hypocritical to allow a child to play realistic console games shooting people up all over the place, and then scream in moral indignation when a child is taught to target shoot with an actual firearm. (Not that I'm suggesting thats what Ted was doing).

Its a good idea to teach your children how to behave safely in all aspects of life but I can't help feeling that is a bit early for a lad of his age to be into real guns.

Agree, I started on .22 RF, ok so I had a shot with a .44 and .38 etc when I was a nipper but always one round at a time, no accidents that way.
Started up onto .38 when I was about 12, then everything else upto .50

I'd have a Desert Eagle too. For close range stuff.

Currently have a Shotgun and hoping to get a .22 Rifle next year. Just in negotiations with a Farmer who has shooting rights, so I can apply for a Fire Arms license.
Then it's watch out Bunny, I'm coming for you.

No good at all can come from owning guns, and even less when mixing guns with children.
