STI 5 TYPE R DUMP VALVE?

Dear all
Could anyone tell me if the dump valve fitted on a standard sti 5 type r is recurculating or atmosperic, i think myself its recurc, by the sound???

Recirculating, and if you ever intend to replace it, don't change to an atmospheric type, they can cause lots of problems for a Subaru.

Buddy, It is indeed a recirculating valve, if you want it sound a bit louder you could fit an induction kit or remove the resonator box leading to the panel filter.

Rob,
Thanks dude but loud enough already thanks to the hks super drager de cat full system.I was thinking of fitting a induction kit but was advised to remove the resontor thingie, hoew do you do this and is it 100% safe.

It is fairly easy to do probaly takes around an hourish, i done it on mine and it is cool!
The resonator is put in place to quiten induction noise, it is a plasic box(basicaly)which sits in the wing it takes the air from above the headlight, once you remove this the air is taken mainly from the duct beneath the indicator(orange wedge).
Remove o/s front wheel
Remove wheel arch liner, the clips break easy so be careful, you can buy similar ones in halfords.
you can now see it, remove brace that goes between the body and bumper.
The box is secured by 2 bolts one inside the engine bay and one which is a bit more awkward to get at, it is located to the front of the box behind the bumper.
Remove the bolt in the engine bay and take off the feed from above the headlight.
Remove the bolt from the inner wing and wiggle it out, thats it!
Now replace the brace that secures the bumper and refit arch liner, making sure that it is watertight.
Refit road wheel
Sorted!
You must make sure that no water can be sucked into the panel filter or it could spell doom! or boom!
worth doing imho

what about the new kit from Graham Goode? I was told that vents to the atm. but causes no stalling problems, as it is a plunger-type, not a diaphragm? anyone use one yet?
