Default Residuals when the 08 Sti is lauched !!!!

Currently considering the 08 Sti (have to see the physical car before making my decision) but if for any reason I didnt like it I was wondering what would be the best time to buy a an older model !

If I can remember correctly when the 05 Sti came out it was approx. 27K but when the dealers wanted rid of their last couple of new cars they went to as low as 20K -21K. So what do you guys think you could buy an 07 Sti for and when do you think would be the best time to buy ?

Would even consider an exceptionally low mileage 05 Sti but dealers at the minute have them with approx 5000 miles for 18.5K / 19K. Surely they are dreaming. Who the hell would pay that now considering they were 20K - 21K when the 06 car came out !!!

And lastly which car would you buy and for what reason having the choice ? The 2005 2.0 or the 2006 2.5 ?

Interested in your opinions on this guys !

Ricky !

Expect residuals to be quite strong now that the new Impreza is coming out.

If the new car had been eye candy then residuals would be hit hard. MHO of course.

Depends upon what the new STi gets as a reception ...... if it's loved then no-one will want an old STi (and would you, for that matter??)

If, however, it flops - then the old STis will be strong and no bargains will be about.

You need to guess which way the cookie is going to crumble.

mate residuals and scoobs don't go together well.there's never a good time to put 20,000 plus into one.you buy a new one knowing you going to lose a fortune.i have just sold my 06 sti for less than 16k.i was getting offered less than 14k for a trade in .my sti was a perfect mint car with a few good mod's and only one man came to see it over the 5 months it was up for sale!
only cars that do or did well was the p1,rb5,wr1 and the rb320.even saying that i see eastwoods have a rb320 which is suposed to be super sought after and scarce as hens teeth for sale for many months now.
if i buy another, which i will it will be from a private vender who has allready taken the big hit.

Here here.

I've lost more on the value of my scoob in 6 months than I did on my 350z in 2 and a half years.

I did buy it knowing I would be keeping it for a long time so residuals weren't at the forefront of my mind. If I do buy again it will be an RB320 in about 5 years when the prices are more reasonable.
