As you all say OH NO not another 2008 sti Picture thread
OK lots of picture doing the rounds at the moment go sent these and they look genuine most Pics.
Although I have already seen most of them on NASIOC and other USA & Canadian sites

Here is some details of Stand trim for each country and what's Optional extra's. Although USA believe that STi 18"'s as standard

Japanese manuals copied off NASIOC

Subaru's are sticky

A quick upshot of Differences between JDM & UK/EU (R/Hand drive) below
JDM 2.0ltr better engine, higher Rev's (cheaper Tax) UK 2.5ltr
JDM 13:1 Quick Rack UK 15:1 Rack

I think they look pretty good in silver.
I like the STi branding on the calipers.
I wouldn't want to be sat in the back, those seats look very flat for cornering !
If I'd have one comes down to price at the end of the day.

Not official, but I lifted a selection of weights from HERE. I don't doubt there's a few lighter (RA's etc), but I was after an rough idea of how the marque is piling on the lb's as the years roll by.

The front grill is the weak point looking from the front. The one modified by frayz above is a massive improvement. Can't afford a new Sti but I really like it now. The JDM's and Spec C's etc are going to be pretty awesome. Only thing is that, as planned by the company, it does now feel like it fits in with the Leon, Focus and Golfs of this world. I found the impreza attractive initially because it was such a querky saloon. Oh well! If the hatch starts doing well in the WRC that should up sales. I've never understood why Citroen for instance have never brought out a truly hot hot hatch.

Yeah i see what youre getting at dude. Trouble is as the market requires less NVH, better safety NCAP etc they will always get lardier.
Lets just hope they do a full on Spec C RA version

Just another set of figures. With the increases in dimensions you can see where at least some of the weight it coming from 
Plus as you say, with car safety on the up, and people wanting all sorts of trick equipment as standard, the weight goes up and up.

The vast majority dont want a full on, in your face flame spitting 500bhp monster.
Car manufacturers do not make cars... they make money.
In order to do so they have to create products for a wide market. unfortunately, we are not that wide market

But yeah, spot on.
The market (aka the masses) demand, sat nav, lots of electrics, lots of safety, comfort, more leg room etc.
Comments on the car on this thread alone show how hard "we" are to please. The back seats dont look comfy..... SO! Im the driver lol
Everyone has different reasons for buying a car, some commute, some cherish, some race, some drag etc.... You are NEVER gonna find a car that can do all AND ticks all the boxes of every market.
Meet the Subaru Impreza 2008..... aka the happy medium.
Its safe, its fun, its nippy, its AWD, its turbo, its tunable, it comfy, its well spec'ed.
Why does everyone not just plan to do with this model what they have done all alone... Make it your own.
Strip the rear seats out, put a cage in, put an install in, change the steering wheel, lower it, tune it, tint the windows..... OR..... accept it at face values, put no more money into it, and just enjoy it.

After my blobeye I would`ve been considering a new shape Golf GTi, perhaps an R32 but now I`ll hang on another 12 months or so for a used STi.

Trouble is, you have an open minded clear view mate.... something thats scarce today.
Its much easier for people to moan than praise.

But then its rare that people immediatly like the replacement for something they like, especially if it makes theirs look older
Im sure within a year of release, someone will have some more aggressive arches on one, dropped a bit, with a reworked intake grille, and back to popping and spitting flames, then everyone can rest again

From another perspective... some more hardcore look at the current and older Impreza's as lavish.... air con, what you need that for, central locking! Electric windows.......... what ever happened to power to weight ratio's lol
I shall return to my sleepy boring ways now and get im my standard scooby and enjoy it for what it is.
One thing for sure, when it arrives in a showroom, I am DEFINATLY having a test drive of one.

A few years back (yes many in fact) when the Ford Focus was launched, I was buzzing around in a hired Escort 1.8 Si.
Having got used to it, it was great fun, controlable, lots of feedback from the wheel, and an all round fun drive.
A week or so later I turned up at the hire place and they gave me the keys to the all new singing and dancing focus.
I drove away, and arrived back an hour later begging for the Escort back.
The focus boasted all the latest technology, tighter handling etc..... but to me... it felt like crap, and far too refined to be able to enjoy it.
Sometimes newer is indeed NOT better, which is why some stick with the classics, and they are still worth so bloody much! But as we all get older and wiser, we want more from a car... which is what the newer cars offer.
the STi is definatly growing on me, i see a few WRXs buzzing around here as im near Days, and i hate them lol, look like the new daewoo/cheverolet thing, but the STi looks brutal, and i like the way Subaru have made it shorter and a hatch almost just so they can improve the WRC car lol, now thats hardcore 
lots of potential, maybe one day il have one again
