Is it possible to deactivate the seatbelt chime and warning light on a 2004 blobeye?

 

Why would u need 2?

 

because i don't wear seatbelts (no lectures - it's my preference)

i was wondering if there was a plug under the seat i could pull?

 

If it's just while you manoeuvre the car over a short distance then do the belt up & sit on it.

Not comfy on a long journey though but then neither is a face full of windscreen.

Its not the windscreen you want to worry about, its the steering wheel breaking your ribs inevitably resulting in a punctured lung if not damage to your aorta.

But hey if its just far to much effort to use a seatbelt or its just that little bit to uncomfortable who are we to preach?

 

I know people who plug the passenger belt into the driver's buckle to stop the beeping.

I had a mate who did the whole "my choice not to wear a seatbelt" thing. I think he thought it made him look dead 'ard... The whole "couldnt give a f@ck" thing
Anyway, driving between St Helens and Newton he skidded on black ice and left the road, coliding into the stone wall protecting an electric substation.
He held the wheel that hard during the skid and impact that he broke his arms (lucky he was a atrong lad). Had he have gone through the windscreen he would have fried...
Funnily enough he started giving a f@ck after that and wore it everytime he drove anywhere...

If however you are certified not to wear one, im sure an auto electrician can locate and disable the sounder for you. Would not wanna start pulling the car apart myself.

On a personal note, the only times in 17 years of driving that its been awkward, is when trying to pick a drink up off the floor when stuck in traffic. Other than that, I hardly know mine is there. And for the time I got rear ended and the car written off.... I was thankful for lecturing the whole family about put if on or we go nowhere

Oh yeah and answer to your question Roddy, Phone up a breakers and ask them to send you a couple of seat belts, cut off the 'clip' bits and just stick them in the sockets

 

just cut one wire off the speaker. Easy.

 

Could buy an old belt from a salvage yard then cut off the buckle and just plug it in..

 

While you're at it, maybe you could:-

1. Disconnect the airbag, the bang might hurt your ears.

2. Pull apart the plugs on the Anti-Lock Brakes, it's a funny feeling the pulsing through your foot after all.

3. Take the Doorcards off and hacksaw through the side protection beams, less weight, more speed.

4. Change the windscreen to plain glass, it won't break when your head slams into it.

5. Buy some Crepe Paper and shape it to look like you have seatbelts and then cut off the ones you are supplied with to save your life.

 

I must admit I find the chime annoying and the indicator beeper is inaudible.
I would like to swap the indicator to use the seatbelt chime.
Dunno if it is poss.
I don't know why everyone gets on their high horse about this though.

Because when somebody has an easily survivable crash but dies because they weren't wearing their seatbelt it causes massive delays to everybody else on the road (a fatal will mean road shut for a number of hours whilst they investigate), and massive cost to the tax payer!

A few years ago a friend who never used to wear a seatbelt was in a relativly minor crash. As he had no seatbelt on, his face hit the steering wheel so hard his teeth were embeded in it. I had to go to the recovery yard to remove some of his stuff from the car, and you could still see his teeth in the wheel

He died for his own "I don't need to wear a seatbelt" bravado.

The crash wasn't his fault at all, he was a very good driver (hence the bravado), somebody pulled straight out into his path, nothing he could have done at all, apart from wearing a seatbelt. He'd have probably walked away if he had done.

 

 

And lets not forget if you are the poor second party that is involved in said accident you are going to have to deal with the fact someone died who need not of!

 

If you're all over the lectures then what about an answer?

I got sick of the nanny bleeping when I move the car 2 yards up the road so I went looking under the seat. There's a plug and socket under the seat, I unplugged it just to see. I was expecting to need to join the wires together or add a resistor between then or something. But it stopped the bleeping without doing anything else. So don't mess about with spare seatbelts or whatever just undo the plug under the seat.

And I always, always wear my seat belt when driving before anyone asks.

 

I thought my speaker idea was a good one, but this is much better.

I always wear my seatbelt as well (unless driving 100 yards to fruit shop).
I still don't see who elses business it is though.

Sorry, I then proceed to work eating the fruit for breakfast.
The wife and kiddy are in the car and I prefer to leave the engine running.
The Missus don't like the chiming!

On my car there were two wires under the seat.
The one to disconnect is the smaller one that runs into the seatbelt stem.
This also got rid of the dash light.

 

one of my friends insisted on not wearing a seat belt too.(HIS CHOICE),then the inevertable happened, something punchered his tyre which made him swerve,cliped the curb and the rest is history.he ended up on his own bonnet.
As it happens,he still doesnt wear his belt(NOT HIS CHOICE) if you catch my drift.

Just out of curiosity do you bother to belt up when you're a front/rear passenger in someone elses car? Or are your mates skulls as rock `ard as yours appears to be?
