ive seen a few V ltds for sale now talking about the longer final drive that gives 160 mph top speed which is more than the typeR is meant to do,so does anyone know the top speed of the typeR's as im starting to wonder whats in my car now gearbox wise
Depends on the version, 5 & 6's have more revs to play with for example.
My 5 does roughly 157 on a standard (non v ltd) gearing

Standard Type R is approx 20 mph per 1000rpm in Fifth.
V-Limited is approx 22 mph per 1000rpm in fifth.
At 4000 rpm, the speeds are 80 and 88mph respectively
Top end is depended on whether your engine will take it
You can upgrade a Standard Type R (or RA) gearbox to v-limited spec, but fiiting the 5th gear assembly from a UK box of the same year. Parts are about £100 new. Less if second hand from a broken UK box.
Budget for £250 all in, £150 all in if the box is already due off for a clutch replacement.
