Default Just done the Nurburgring!

Hi guys,

For all of you who are familiar with the 'Ring', I've just recently come back from there having successfully completed 3 laps of it, with only a couple of close shaves!

433 miles to get there was also fun on their much better than England roads. No police to bother you, no speed cameras... well not that I saw and the roads are built and maintained to do that kinda speed.

If you've not been to the 'Ring' its well worth the driving experience. Its a bit scary with everything and anything driving round the track, from bikes, hire cars, stripped out race cars and people just doing it for fun. Do watch out for corporate Audi drivers, they drive it like they own it, whether your in their way or not. encountered some road rage with one after he cut me up big time.

The officials of the 'Ring' do not allow videoing or timing of your laps, as they do not encourage speeding. I have to agree, you could find yourself pushing and pushing to the point where you might have a ding! Never the less I timed myself out of interest in my 95 WRX import, I was pleased, lap times as follows:

Lap 1 = 12:15
Lap 2 = 12:09
Lap 3 = 11:47

If you've never been before and are thinking of going, don't go to race, just enjoy it and know the limits of your car AND the other cars on the track, they can't all brake as hard as you! Its also hard to get insurance, I didn't bother, you bend it, you mend it! You can argue with your insurance company that its a toll road and your covered, but you try getting money out of them if something happens!

If I new how to post photos up here I would???

Any one else been recently and got any comments?

Cheers.

Nice one!

Glad you enjoyed yourself.

There is a German Girl (can't remember her name) who is absolutely letal on this track.

She is the one who coached "Larkson" around the track on Wot Gear last year.

Well done.

Regards.

Glad you enjoyed it I've been 3 times and it's awesome

Most EU breakdown cover has a Nurburg Ring exclusion Area clause in their polices even the odd Road insurance so never breakdown or crash in this area as your EU breakdown Policy will be cancelled, as a mate found out..

Tony

Ps there is always some trailers in the Car park by the roundabout

Glad you enjoyed it mate.
I went with a group of bikers in my uk classic turbo back end of june
and had a right laugh.
In the end i did 14 laps and managed to get my lap time down to
9 mins 34 secs with 3 passengers and a bootful of tools (just incase).
Like you said, lap times are nice to know but not overly inmportant. You'll easily break into 9's with a WRX,you just need a few more laps under
you're belt......oh and better brakes, cos even my 4 pots suffered from
fade by the time i got to Adenau.

Good time!

My best was 9:45 on my second lap with two passengers and a 40mph speed limit by the old pits. I stopped the clock just as i pulled into the car park again.

Awesome place!

P.S In a 2001 M3

Glad you enjoyed it. You now have what is known as 'Ring Fever' where you play out the whole thing in your mind at least once a day until you get to go back again.

Just came back a few weeks ago from my 3rd (and best) long weekend out there, wet most of the time, but brilliant nonetheless. What a lot of people don't realise is that it's not just the track itself, it's the mellow atmosphere of simple things like sitting at Exmuhle eating chips and mayonnaise, bumping into new friends at different spots around the area etc, that all add up to make it in a totally different league to UK trackdays.

There's 11 of us going over from the 3rd to 6th September for our second trip.
Staying at Eddy's hotel
Hotel An Der Nordschleife

Mixture of bikes and cars going this time,rally 205,'05 wrx(mine),'89 BMW 520(tweaked to 2.7),Ducati 749 Dark(my old bike!),Honda SP1,1200 Bandit etc

Plan to do around 15/20 laps this time,weather/accidents permitting.

Just bought a new digital slr,so hoping to get some real nice pics to share with everyone

Have done a few track days at Oulton Park(best track in GB,IMHO and Ty Croes,Angelsey) in my time, but this place is the absolute dogs bollox.

Been overtaken by a local in a stripped out mk2 Golf(like I was standing still )but also done the same to a Boxster and a M3,this is not a place for massive egos,it will deffo bite you in the ***,if you get cocky.

To me it's like my best road road thru/over the Denbigh/Trawsfynydd moors but without the worry of getting stopped by the 'FEDS'

i was there at the weekend.

Tho only managed 4 laps as my wheel bearing decided to destroy itself.

3rd trip, but first in the scooby.

Previously went in my clio 182 cup, which seeing as times have been banded about, managed to get down to an 8.45.

Was hoping to run a bit quicker in the scooby, but by the time i was ready to time the car was in no fit state!

But anyways, the place is aweosme, and will never get boring!!!

I don't know many Subaru owners who frequent the place who have not had to replace them.

They are made of cheese.

Was there at the end of May and loved every minute of it. Even the weather didn't put me on a downer. Empty track when peeing down so just went out and learnt the track. When it rains there it bleedin rains, could have done with a snorkell.

Went with a load of bikers so they were all trying to get pax laps when it was grim. Had a ball chasing 2 of my mates round on there GSX-R's when it had dried out. Can't wait to get back there.
