So who's had an 03/05STi,but now drives an 06 or 07?
Went from an 03 to an 05, I much prefered the 05 car it was so much better with the wider track and slightly longer wheel base
The 07 is much the same as the 05 although I do feel that the seats are a little higher in the 07.
07 wins

Throttle response mainly,at motorway cruising speed in 6th(70-80) the thing is as flat as the perverbial pancake and labouring at 2500 revs
while the fbw throttle makes driving in slow moving stop/start traffic a right royal pita

oh dear, could be a row brewing

tried a PPP 2.5 jon? haven't myself but have heard good things about it. gotta try to rekindle your love for the scooby mate, might see you going to the darkside otherwise and i'd have no-one's ideas to copy

Thing is at the moment the car is no fun to drive at all
and find my first choice of vehicle to drive is my works Ford Ranger truck, how bad is that??thinking along the lines of a Ford RS or Astra VXR as a replacement at the moment
I use 2nd/3rd gear mainly at low speeds and you can do throttleless starts in first in traffic. It sounds like the gear box not the engine you are having issues with. I had similar problems in my first 6 speed. You get used to it.

I've only heard negative reports about the PPP on the Hawkeyes

i thought PPP turned it into a bit of a torque monster
that might help you troubles? i don't think you are alone with finding the 2.5 a bit of a different car though.i like the look of the RS but the idea of flying into hedge with torque steer puts me off a bit. FFS sake i don't know how do drive a car properly, that's why i drive scooby (sorry impreza

)go on, evo or skyline, you know it makes sense
i would never ever ever have a hawkeye, its a wannabe hatchback that is simply one of the ugliest cars on the road. Who cares if theyre now technically superior, or have a higher torque output, i dont want to feel guilty for making people sick when i drive past. If i go for another 'fast road car with four doors' it would be a trip to the darkside.

..Now pretty please, has anyone gone from a *UK* blob to a *UK* Hawkeye and lived to tell the tale
Jon,i know you despise JDM cars but wouldnt it be worth at least having a drive in one to see if a twin scroll turbo suits your style of driving more? Just a thought.
Also if your worried about main stealers Sparshatts will now deal with JDM cars without a problem
If you fancy a test drive in a twinscroll car i'll have the spec c in a couple of weeks

Let a few friends who most of them drive Scoobys or Evo's go for a drive in my modified Focus RS, and the first time they put there foot down always seems to catch them out with the torquesteer(1 hand on the steering wheel always turns to two after 3 minutes of driving)
I think 4wd gives you to much confidence and you can get bored as there is no action, but I havent been able to enjoy my car for the past few months with the wet weather as the roads are just not suited to powerful FWD cars, personally I'd stick with your Scooby or go for an Evo!!!!!

If you've only done 800 miles it ain't nowhere near run in and will be as tight as a ducks proverbial..! They need at least 5-6k before they even start to loosen up, feeling like a different car. How many miles did you do in your 05..?
I take it you have PPP..? If so it's why a lot of people recommend you get at least 5k on them before hand, then you should notice the difference.
With regards going to the dark side, aren't they technically an import..?

Had a 03 WRX PPP Test drove 04 STi and 05 STi for a day and UK Hawkeye STi with PPP, The 03 great all rounder the 04 drove horrible the 05 STi PPP best UK car I have driven and the new 06 STi PPP good low down delivery but felt nervous on the handling side, very jittery and for the first time ever driving an Impreza, Not Safe.
subsequently drove a JDM hawkeye and straight away put a deposit on it, and now drive the best impreza I have had the pleasure to have driven.

That would be the RE070`s Probably the best tyre for fast road driving and what came with My JDM and would have brought them again if it wasn`t for the cost and availability of 235 as used on the JDM`s, so that wasn`t the problem with that car I drove.
